It was stolen from its original owners. They were forced to live in the areas that the new settlers did not want. Native American religions where pushed by the wayside. The Native Americans were slaughtered so these invaders could take the land they want, with absolutely no regard for who it belongs to. All this was done by people where were supposedly "seeking freedom"???

Oh wait, now I see after all why people say America was founded on Christian values.

No regard is right. No regard for human life! No regard for the poor! No regard for anything expect their money and material. Democrats and Republican area alike with money. Democrats coming from money and nothing different from the REpublians. Christians claiming their forefathers were christians when they were deep in sin and cultic life style. There are a few who are true to human life and rights. But they get shut down by the powerful. Using God the Bible to get rich and think they are doing God a big favor by going to church and carrying a bible. When they are full of lies and have no regard for human life and right.

Watch Broken Rianbow, if you ever want to know the truth. The government will hide behind the wall of the bible and use it without shame. Its funny the stupid christians support this idiot.

America was never founded on Christian values. Most of the "forefathers" were in cultic activity. These so call "christian' Men used the Bible to hurt not only Native Americans but people of color. Which is "racist" sickness in the Christian world. Southern Baptist had slaves and sold women and childern into slavery. They first try to use Native Americans as slaves but most of them either ran away or killed themselves. I think the other Christian value is money. There are so many huge churches in Texas and though out the US. They will not give one penny to help. The only people who do try are those with little money. They don't ever care about their own people! Getting rich off the name of God. Values ....lol....
I talked to baptist people and many say, "I wasn't there"...that such bull. Riding the shirt tales of their ancestors.
Now there are preachers preaching we need to get the US back because this country was founded on Christian values, so is saying, our leaders are christians! Such lies! B franklin hated Native Americans and he is no Hero. You can read some of his letters online. Oklahoma histroy....Anyway....Christian... is full of greed, and lies. President Bush took native money from the people. Broken Treaties....

It has to do with the declaration of independence and the constitution not what happened before the revolutionary war. What you're talking about is stuff that happened before America was even born so technically that has nothing to do with America. The Founders of this country made the values of the country based on christian values. Like the rights we are born with-Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"-This shows how the Founders believed in God and why we say America was founded on Christian values.

Anyway, a lot of the american christians seem to think their history began in 1776, completely bypassing both the natives and their european history.

I was looking for 'religious' stuff in the US constitution but all I could really find was
"Article Six also states that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States"."

Most of the original founding fathers were believers in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior from all their sins. Their intent was to establish a Godly nation which they did. They could not control what eventually happened to the American Indian. I'm sure many of them would not have agreed. Sadly, it is no longer true that American is a godly Nation today. We are no longer Godly or good. Someday we will reap the consequences.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head, there sweetie.
Their "values" go back to 325 CE when Rome took over and it became about power. I agree with Ghandi, "I like your Christ. I do not like your christians. Your christians are nothing like your Christ."
It's funny, because the minute you say something like what you've posted, you'll get the whole " Don't follow us. Follow Jesus" thing.. they have an excuse for everything.. but we're supposed to live in a country based on THEIR values?
Oh wait.. look at the unlawful invasion of Iraq.. we ARE!

It wasn't really founded on a set of Christian values, but on an ideal
After the reformation if you wanted to get out of the persecution you fled to the new world. Look what happened to the Anabaptists (the liberals of the middle ages)
It's not a black and white thing, I'd urge you to study the history and you'll be amazed I promise ;)

Christian values are measured by what Jesus teaches not by what humans do. He even tells us that, when he comes back, many will say that they have done many wonderful things in His name and He will tell them to depart from Him because He never knew them. Which means that they were not His followers.

The people who came to this land, were opposed to the form of religion that they had to adhere to. Religion does not make a person a Christian. Following Jesus and His teachings does. Some of the people were Christians and some were not.

The Founders were very religious men and they knew that their enterprise would not succeed if they didn't place faith in God and make America a nation that allowed religious freedom.
