Is moderate to liberal Christianity beneficial, harmless or harmful to our society?

As compared to what? Fundie style Christianity? Of course it'd be less harmful then that.

I would say however that Christianity period is harmful to our society. The whole concept of telling people from the time they are small children that they are nothing but worthless sinners in need of salvation cannot have a positive effect on the mind.

REAL Christianity is the only thing that is beneficial. Conservative, Liberal, moderate are all descriptions of human political parties and groups, which have nothing to do with God's word.

Those who follow God's word first, and their political ideals second, are truly in the will of God.

I'll say what a pastor told me a while ago: God is neither an elephant, nor a donkey. :-)
