My son, 7 years old has been sick overnight I took him to the dr and she checked his urine to see how concentrated it was so she would know if he was dehydrating...very dark urine. She gave him meds to make him quit puking and said he needed to drink alot and I need to call her back this aftrnoon if his urine isn't lighter. But, during the check she said ketones were in his urine...she wants to recheck it in a week.
Is this caused by a stomach virus, dehydration or what?

When urine is concentrated the ketones are high due to dehydration .When he is rehydrate this should become normal .That's why they want to check this in a week to rule out other medical problems.
