I cannot believe that? Petroleum jelly, I hope you are not talking about Vaseline??? No body's hair is that damn dry, why don't you use pink moisturizer ?? I never heard of that. I am black also and I have dry and very thick hair too but I just make sure I condition weekly with Pantene restoratives for black people, it is in a copper color container and it is heavy and makes my hair really soft but I leave it in my hair for at least 30 minutes.. I love it, I have been using it for about 3 months now.

i think it's fine because it's kind of like grease. People say its bad for your hair but in reality it's not. If you feel that your hair is doing well with the petroleum jelly then keep using it. I'm black too and its fine with me.

Personally I would never put that on my hair but different strokes for different folks. If it works for you and your hair is healthy and growing then why stop. Do whatever is good for your hair.

STOP!!! i believe there is really bad long term effects. besides, it has not been scientifically proven to be good. no offence for that comment, but it is for you own hair-well-being. unless there is new scientific study that proves it is good, then continue. otherwise, i advice you to stop. because its long term effects are unknown to you.

Hope this helps, Peace.
