It WASN'T. It was settled on freedom of religion. And if you notice, all the Founding Fathers were Deists (and before you say they weren't, use your internet and go look it up. Thats why you have it) and the Constitution specifically states freedom of religion as a tenet and it doesn't say freedom of Christian religion. It says freedom of all religion.
It was not created on Christian values. It was created on freedom.

I'd disagree
The original pilgrims were a diverse group. Some were like you say, but the constitution couldn't have come from a people without some humanitarian ideals, although today it's been ripped up by Bushco
One example, take the Amish, such groups fled to US of A after the reformation and nowhere else do they exist today
If you are interested take a look at the reformation, it's a fascinating study in the struggle for orthadoxy and spirituality that produced the constitution
Today the same battle that plauged Europe has caught up with America and the outcome will be the same I feel, the religious right are committing the same excesses that caused people to flee to the new world

Why don't you check out the values and thoughts of our fore-fathers? They were Christians who were persecuted by the Church of England. They wrote the Constitution because they wanted to be sure that we all had the right to worship God the way they felt was right - not the way they were told to do it.
How can you say that the Christians that settled America believed in rape, slavery, etc.
The slaves far before they came here to America were already slaves - they were being bought and sold by other richer blacks and others. This Country was the last to even get any.
And, yes, this Country was founded on Christian values. The ones your generation has totally forgotten about. The ones that are now missing, and so result in small children killing other children; rape and incest on a massive scale; crime up how many thousand percent? Anything that feels good, hey, lets make it "right". lets call it a lifestyle choice. Lets take God out of everything. Want to know what you end up with? Watch CNN, or read your local newspaper. Nothing like the stuff that happens today, was happening when i was a child in the fifties.
It was an eye-opening, horrible, unbelievable bit of news if you even did happen to hear that a child was molested. So, hey,
Einstein, go ahead and you keep it up - its real clear where your bunch is taking this Country. Right down the shitter.

I don't know about the values, but I do know America was created with a land of religious freedom in mind. I believe most of the founding fathers were Christian (could be wrong), so the laws they set forth may be influenced by Christianity, but they are not explicitly Christian.

To the goofball who named the treaty of tripoli - You are speaking of Article 11; this treaty was put into place to make a pact so that we didn't end up in war. Mostly the treaty had to do with practical things such as rules of decorum on the seas, and the vessels that traveled forth;
Article 11 does in fact say that America isn't meant to push Christian religions - we all know that, Einstein, but America was founded on the right to religious freedom. Thats for every religion. So that the Government cannot decide who worships and how they worship.
Kinda like what you are trying to do, here. You are taking the writings of our forefathers, and trying to make the point that what it means is that there are no Christian values allowed or meant to be allowed in this Country. This Country, according to CNN
two months ago, is over 81% Christian. If you don't like that fact, then you are welcome to join a different religion, and to practice that religion without the Police coming in and shutting you down.
If you believe in nothing but yourself, then isn't it a mute point for you? But do not make the mistake of thinking that just because you believe in nothing, that you can try to force a Christian or intimidate a Christian, or ridicule a Christian into going along with your "nothing" religion. It ain't gonna happen, friend. Not today.
Not in a million years. You are talking about civil war, and if you wanna see a bunch of people turn real quick from "love thy neighbor" to defending their religious right, go ahead and give it a try. You'de be better off trying to take the infant cub away from a grizzly bear. Whether you believe or not is immaterial; the fact is that God Himself would intervene. And all you need is for Him to come down here earlier than He was gonna. He's already got a rod of iron waiting and lots and lots of disipline - so don't push it; because at least at this point, you still have the rest of your pathetic life to enjoy. Thats about it.

America was never founded on Christian values. Most of the "forefathers" were in cultic activity. These so call "christian' Men used the Bible to hurt not only Native Americans but people of color. Which is "racist" sickness in the Christian world. Southern Baptist had slaves and sold women and childern into slavery. They first try to use Native Americans as slaves but most of them either ran away or killed themselves. I think the other Christian value is money. There are so many huge churches in Texas and though out the US. They will not give one penny to help. The only people who do try are those with little money. Values ....lol....
I talked to baptist people and many say, "I wasn't there"...that such bull. Riding the shirt tales of their ancestors.
Now there are preachers preaching we need to get the US back because this country was founded on Christian values, so is saying, out leaders are christians! Such lies! B franklin hated Native Americans and he is no Hero. You can read some of his letters online. Oklahoma histroy....Anyway....Christianity is full of greed, and lies. President Bush took native money from the people. Broken Treaties....
Masonic principles is not christian....Preachers call this christian...hmmmm
Anyway, will see what kind of answers you get

You obviously have not read much, have you?
I have no idea what you have against Christianity, but it appears to be acute, and effecting your opinions.
Name a society that has not had a form of slavery, or made or egregious mistakes. Don't say Native American's, they took slaves from other tribes.
Bottom line, if you ever want to be taken seriously in your life, you must remove your prejudice from an issue and do some RESEARCH first.
Wow.

The Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated by George Washington's administration late in his term and signed by John Adams, clearly states--"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; ..."

Sounds no different from any other country, Christian or otherwise. That was the way it was in those days - we learn and move on.
I'd still love to live in America!
