Oh, forget Liverpool and Manchester. The only northern city you should consider is Leeds. The university has a fantastic reputation, the city is modern, fun, lively and young.
Failing that, go to London. Other cities in UK not worth bothering with to be honest.

Dont listen to people like sex monki the crime rate is lower in Liverpool than in Manchester and its much friendlier. Nothing against Manchester its a great place but the 'Pool has loads to offer. A great night life, good shops, an airport access to everywhere, friendly sociable people, a history and much more besides. I wouldnt put other places down and I think it unfair that other people are being so disparaging about my city. They probably have not even been here before and just listen to prejudiced news reports. If you move here you will have an amazing time.

Liverpool is the uk capital of culture, It is a great place to live and the people are a lot nicer than they are in manchester, they have better football and better music and also a better sense of humour, I am from Liverpool but currently live in Manchester (because of my job) If I had a choice I would move back to Liverpool like a shot, as in any city there are good places and bad so make sure you do your research where ever you move to, good luck

Walton is rarely the final section to stay in Liddypool. For colleges attempt Sefton Park or Alllerton. transport solid, city centre solid and not 0.5 as undesirable as human beings from the South make out. they're all lilly livered! you will possibly desire to, of course flow better afield, Formby or Southport, or 'over the water' in Wallasey or New Brighton. don't be shy. that's a super place.

God no!! Liverpool is horrible, the people aren't nice, the streets are filthy and crime is overwhelming. Manchester is far better and not far away from Liverpool (worlds apart in terms of everything else though!).If neither of them appeal then Chester is near Liverpool and that's a lovely little place, lots of shops, very historical with a good reputation.
P.S-I do know Liverpool extremely well been a visitor to a friend who lives there for many years (he goes to Liverpool Uni) and it's a shithole!!

You'd be better off in Bath, or Bournemouth... ( i love both of them cities ) Or even Cambridge...
The south is definately the best place to live IMO
Out of them two i would definately chose Manchester though...

Liverpool certainly has character but in terms of glitzy image lags behind Manchester, which is a vibrant and affluent expanding city.
The two ciies are only 30 miles apart so I would chose a university because you like the course.

Manchester's not a city worth much character? .. I would seriously question THAT statement.
They are both nice cities but I would recommend Manchester.
Liverpool certainly has "character" too but if it was MY daughter, i'd be much happier if she was going to Manchester. Manchester has a modern image.
