I think it depends on what stage of the relationship you two are in. I would assume that being in a relationship for a year would mean that you two are pretty comfortable by now and relatively serious by now. I personally would think that a girl could at least offer by this time to pay for something. That probably depends on the girl as well.

I wish I knew how to answer that question. I have always offered to pay 1/2 the bill no matter if at the beginning, middle or end of a relationship. I hate feeling like I owe someone. Your girlfriend sounds like she's enjoying her free ride and is a bit high-maintenance. I'd tell her that although you love going on dates with her, you just cannot keep affording to pay for it all. See if that gets her attention.

Umm.. this isn't 1980. A guy shouldn't be expected to pay for the date just like a woman shouldn't be expected to have sex because he paid for a date.
Then again, I'm not at all the traditional woman. I don't really agree with women staying home to be housewifes while their husband works UNLESS their are babies in the house. I don't believe in someone else taking care of things that you can do yourself. Movies are expensive but they don't cost that much where your girl can't pay her own way. I have never asked a guy to pay for anything for me. Even after I got married, if I couldn't pay for it myself, I didn't need it.
With you paying for all the dates, I'm assuming she is providing EXCELLENT company. Otherwise, you're getting played. It seems like she's trying to see how much you think she's worth. Do not play that game. You'll lose.

The guy realistically always pays, until the relationship moves to a serious level (IE living together) then the girl needs to hold up her side of the deal and help out. You could always ask her when she's gunna treat you for a meal. Theres nothing wrong with asking.

I think after a year you should be either splitting the bills mostly or treating each other, i.e. You pay one time, she pays the next. Its a nice thing to do now and again and when dating starts its a nice way to show you care, but it cant go on forever.

What's the matter with you? You're letting her walk all over you. Continue to open doors for her if u like but you need to let her start paying and if she doesn't agree she's high maintenance. If she's willing to dump you for this she was just using you. Just mention something like " hey how bout you take me out to eat at this place friday or something" and wait to see what she says. You could even try to get ger to take u to a game or something she knows u like.

Sometimes the woman should help out, if she wants to. You already sound resentful. Is the honeymoon over?
