I lost my daughter two years ago. I still smell her perfume from time to time, even though I've never used that kind, and it isn't in my home. Scripture is very clear that the dead are not out there in some hole in the ground - to be absent from the flesh, is to be present with the Lord. So, sure, they are there.

Well if you say you are receiving signs, so be it. But I do not believe those signs are from your late g/f .
counterfeit spirits from satan could be sending you massages imitating her. The signs will not lead to life, as the only life can come from Jesus Christ.
He does love you.

The Bible is clear that the living of earth cannot communicate with the dead. Read the account of Lazarus and the Rich man.

After a bereavement I had some really intense and symbolic dreams like I'd never had before-I can't help wondering if it has some meaning.

I think you are playing with demons.
The dead are conscious of nothing ....not even conscious about how to contact you.
