The problem is you can't separate friendship from intamacy. I'm almost tempted to believe the only reason you have stayed friends so long is because you are waiting for the "knight" to finally claim you as his own.
Life is too short. Continue to be his friend, but don't wait. Guys tend to like this scenerio because they are having their cake and eating it too. He seems to be caught in limbo, and have pulled you there along with him and his on-and-off again ex. If being his friend means that you are still in this situation, you may even want to limit the friendship as well.
It's ok to like someone, but if it gets to the point that your life and your own advancement is being placed on hold depending on the outcome of the other person's life, then it's time for a change.
There is an old saying I used to take for granted, but now understand the power of it's meaning: What will be, will be. It doesn't only mean that if it will happen for you then it will. It also means don't spend your life trying to make some things happen or wait for it. You get to a point where you let it go, and if it comes back at you, then you are in the position of making the decision instead of waiting for it to come.

Think about this.... What do you have that she don't have? Nothing right..... He will do the same to you some day if he leaves her for you. One day he will leave you for someone else... You will never be happy taking someone else's happiness way.... Leave him you deserve better. I know it's hard but his girl will suffer too...... Don't jsut think about your self. Girl he is not going anywhere when your tired of someone time youve been together dont matter.what matters is the time that you will be loosing. Dont waste your time. it sounds like he might be serious about having feelings for you, but it also seems like he keeps stalling because he is unsure and most likely what he says about being together for so long, however if he is basically cheating on this girl for you what makes you think that if you two lasted he wouldnt do the same thing? i know how it feels to be attached but you gotta let go and move on. tell him that if he wants to be with you he needs to be open to her and leave her give him a week and if he doesnt do it obviously his feelings are not that strong. good luck =)'

He's made his choice, and it isn't you. You are just a side activity and I'm sure that you need and deserve more. If I were you, I would definitely move on with my life. I don't know your age, of course, but it sounds like you are at a point where you should be concentrating on future goals: education, career and self-fulfilment. Concentrate on yourself, right now....not a guy that's not worth it.

I don't think you should put your life on hold and wait for him. You should move on and date other people, and if something should happen between you two, then fine. But don't sit around waiting for him - that never works. I found the love of my life when I wasn't even looking. I wasn't even ready to start dating - as a matter of fact - I was looking forward to being by myself for the rest of my life....and then there he was...Good luck girl.

many females individuals and females might discover "undesirable boys" extra sexually suited, yet while they benefit a sprint adulthood, they are going to start to appreciate that the adult adult males you definitely need to sleep with and the adult adult males you definitely need as a miles better half on your existence are very distinctive adult adult males.

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HES USING YOU! HES GOT HIS CAKE AND HES EATING IT TOO. AND AS FAR AS YOU CHANGING TO SEEM INTERESTING TO HIM, YOU SHOULDN'T CHANGE YOURSELF FOR ANYONE. PICK UP YOUR SELF ESTEEM AND MOVE ON. YOU MIGHT FIND SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT'S MORE DESERVING OF YOU.
