well, it's in your dining room, so, you could do family pictures and what not, but that's not really dining room...
you could get some funky wall shelves and seek out vintage fod containers, like campells cans and coffee cans...except that seems more kitchen, but it would be a fun project to find the stuff.
how about checking out a decor store like kirklands or peir one and find a large wall peice to hang. that guy nate on oprah had a huge basket hung on hi wall behind his couch...it was a flat type basket...it looked nice.
i don't know...there were some ideas.
have you looked in some decor magazines??/ i get lots of ideas from them and instead of paying high prices for their stuff i try to re-create it in my own home.
take care.!

You can do a large mirror, a grand piece of art (maybe something you painted yourself, abstract). You can pick a theme and go with that, anything you are interested in?
You could do a travel theme that starts with a giant map antiqued and hung on the wall, then round it out with an accent table underneath, put a globe or an old passport on it, or pics of you on your trips.
You could do a collection of old chairs on the wall. Make them sturdy and keep them removable so that you can use them for extra seating at parties.
You could do any collection: similar prints on a wall, united by subject, size, or color scheme, and in identical frames. You could do a series of prints of ONE thing from different angles...if your subject was flowers, use one flower and get shots of it in various stages of bloom, the leaf, extreme closeup just to show color, a shot of dew on it, a top view, in a vase, as it withers...
You could do a tromploi? I don't know how to spell it, it is an image so realistic it is an optical illusion. An open window, a country path, etc. This takes a lot of experience, you may need to commission a pro. The alternative is a wallpaper mural...which would be cheaper but needs to be well-selected or it looks tacky.
You could do something that you wouldn't expect to find on the wall. A huge sawblade, an old window or door, a unique garment, a propeller? It would be very sculptural.
If you have any spare floor space, you can put a sofa there, flanked by floor to ceiling shelving for books, china, sound system. You could do a secretary, an armoire, or something like that to store china or entertaining gear such as linens or candles.

You could get a wall tattoo or paint something yourself if you can, nothing complicated just use one shade of paint. If you're looking for something more along the lines of "no one else will ever have this in their dining room", get some long but not too thick branches, attach them to the wall to make them look like trees ( I would put them approx 3 feet apart across the entire wall) and either create branches with paint or get smaller branches/twigs to create a forest on your wall.

Find something different to do. Join a gym and take the tyke to the daycare there while you work out. You'll feel good, the kid will get some non-mom time. You may meet other woman just like you in the Sauna. Take a ride someplace different every week. Maybe hit one food store this tuesday, try another next week..keep it different from week to week. Go out and get a part time job working a few nights a week or on the weekend. Do anything you can to associate yourself with people other than the hubby and the little dude. People need people, it's a life need.

Well, you have many options...if you have children (or kids u r close to) display on mini shelves their creations. Baskets are my favorite thing to decorate with, they are cheap and there is a huge variety...they are so inexpensive that you can change them a lot! Mirrors in all different shapes grouped together is another nice look!

Repaint the massive wall an unexpected bold color.
Then see what you get for ideas.

go giant size with a huge mirror or huge painting, like 4x5 ft. OR put four same sized paintings on it, hang them so that they are making a big square.
