Does your doberman spin in circles when it gets excited? My female is 2.5 years old and she's been doing this since she was coordinated enough to not trip herself. And I mean spinning very fast, but not the same way a dog might chase it's tail. Anyone else's dobie or other breed for that matter spin in circles? Madison will do at least 10 in a row and usually only stops when she bumps into something or looses her footing.

I wanted to add that I'm not concerned about her doing this, I know she's healthy. I simply wanted to see if other people with dobies had experienced this. It's the funniest thing in the world to watch her get herself worked up and start spinning.

my 4 month old female does the same thing and she loves to run. My older male dobie has never done this. So I have a 50/50 answer. Good luck!!!

I have owned several that do this. It seems to be common with this breed.
I see it in dogs who have been kept in kennels but I know that two of mine that did it had never been kenneled.
Yes it seems to be common in Dobes.
I have one now who we call "spinbot" as he does it when you are preparing his food bowl. Other than feeding only when he gets really excited. He is doing it less but feeding time is just a frenzy for him.
I have owned Dobes for 17 years and some have done it and som have never done it. They are fast when they spin and since it does not seem to bother anyone (but me) I let him go. It is more work and he seems to get frustrated if you try to stop him.

We've had four dobermans since I was a kid. I have never seen any of them do that. I have seen other dogs (that had longer tails) spin in circles. I definitely don't think it's a doberman thing. You might want to ask your vet about it next time you see him/her. It's probably just a quirk your dog has, but I would still mention it just to rule out any potential issues.

Yeah mine does, and pretty much every doberman i've ever seen does also. I don't know why just something genetic i guess.
