Nothing is impossible for God. Christians believe Luke 1:26-38:

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."

But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."

But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?"

And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God."

Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.

With love in Christ.

With God, ALL things are possible.

But consider this: Jews of that era regularly bathed in shared water. It isn't outside the realm of possibility that a leftover sperm cell from a previous bather might have found its way 'home'. Highly unlikely, I agree. But for Someone who manipulates odds all the time, not completely unbelievable...

It all depends on how powerful you think God is. To me God is far more powerful and far more intelligent than all human intellect added together. I've heard the phrase "God works in mysterious ways" that is because it is beyond our understanding how God does things or what God can do. God is not human or at least is not human anymore, so don't expect God to do things the way we do. We always like to think that we know everything and a lot of times we like compare ourselves with God; the truth is with all the discoveries and knowledge that human society has gained over the years we aren't even close to beginning to understand God's creation, let a lone God itself.

It's not. Just another supernatural myth intended to fool people into thinking jesus was of divine origin.

Heck, the bible itself says she wasn't "always" a virgin -- check out James, the brother of jesus...:)

While we're on the subject...the bible goes to great lengths to show that Joseph was of the lineage of the house of David, in order to fulfill the prophecy that jesus would be of the house of David. Yet...if Joseph didn't father jesus, and Mary got impregnated by god, what does Joseph's lineage have to do with jesus? Joseph wasn't his father according to the bible...and Mary was NOT of the lineage of the house of David. So which one is it? Was jesus of the house of David through Joseph as his father, or was he a virgin conception from god, hence not related to Joseph, hence not of the house of David?
It can't be both...:)

It's called immaculate conception. It's the whole point of a virgin birth, it was a miracle. If she wasn't a virgin then it wouldn't have been so amazing for her to have a child.

It's not. Many mythological stories contain supernatural elements; many mythological figures (hercules, horus, and many others) were born to a virgin.
