My cat "Delicious" is about 8 months , has vet visits regularly, eats and plays normally. But about a month ago i noticed her lip being a bright pink color. Thinking nothing of it but noticing how strange is that for a cat to have such a bright pink bottom lip. So a couple of days ago. Me and my husband took pictures of her and noticed how obvious her lip was....and today i looks like its swollen. Im not panicing because i actually think its quite funny how a cat could end up that way! But if it is serious i would do the next best thing for her and make sure she is better! Please could someone tell me what could be the matter and is this normal for her growth?
Thanx
P.S. SHE IS NOT SICK AND HAS BEEN TESTED FOR ALL DISEASES!

The exact same thing happens to my kitty. I took her to the vet and they said it was an irritation they get sometimes from their teeth rubbing the gum. There was nothing that I could do so I waited it out and it went away. She got it again a couple of years later and I didn't even bother with the vet that time and it went away after about 2-3 weeks.

Have you noticed your cat scratching or rubbing her lips in any way? If you think that this is causing her to be uncomfortable, then you should take her to the vet. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the swollen lips, but my dog has had swollen eyes because of an allergy reaction. If it's any cause for concern, I would take her to the vet right away! Good luck! Hope she gets better.

She may have been bitten by something, it will go away, when my dog was a pup he would always end up w/ fat lips from putting his business where it didn't belong. If she isn't fixed that sometimes is the side effect of her going into heat, I had a female cat who use to get a fat lip when she went into heat, once she was fixed her lip no longer became swollen. Needless to say I don't think its anything to worry about as long as she's still eating and drinking water.

Well, what does the vet say about this? It doesn't look normal to me. It looks painful. I had to go look at my cats lip when I saw the pic. Though your kitty's lip does seem very swollen, it is not very red. Does Delicious seem to be in pain from this lip? I feel bad for her.

I definately would have her looked at by your vet as there are many possibilities to cause this such as feline acne, allergies, abscess, infections, insect bite, etcera. Just so many causes that could be something simple or complicated.

She may have tried to eat an insect that bit her lip, like a spider or bee. If it's not getting better, get her checked.

Sometimes cats jump from the third floor to get out of the house fast.

it could be any number of things, she could have an infection in her lip or in one of her teeth....take her to the vet just to be sure.
