My mother in law noticed that her new puppy which is only 7 weeks old has worms in his poo. What can we give such a young puppy to get rid of them? He is a teacup chiwawa. Sorry if I spelled that wrong. But you get the picture.

What the hell is a puppy doing away from the mother at 7 weeks? Well smart ***, we were told we could take the puppy 3 days ago and that is what we did. As for everyone else, thank you for the advice and we will definately take the dog to the vet and get him all taken care of. I just wasnt sure if there was something that we could do ourselves. So, thanks everyone.

there are many different types of parasites that he can have. until a vet checks which types of worms he has there is no way to tell what to treat for. most likely they are the worms that all puppies and kittens are born with which your vet will probably treat with a liquid wormer but there is a chance that the dog has tape worms which wouldn't be treated the same way. SO as everyone else has already said.......the chihuahua must go to the vet! good luck! i bet he's a real cutie!

You need to take him to the Vet ASAP and get him/her on De-worming medication. It's a simple 7 day pill that you give the dog. Here is an article on parasites in dogs:

take your puppy to your vet,,,he needs to be weighted, and he needs to have a speciman to make sure what kind of worms your baby has,,,,,but he needs to be weighted to ensure he gets the proper dosage of meds. Puppies can be wormed as early a 3 weeks, and again 6 weeks, 9 weeks, and 12 weeks. He also needs to get started on his baby shots. Hope this helps some,,,Good luck!!

Take the dog to the vet for worming.

PS: There is no such thing as a teacup dog, it's a made up term so breeders can just charge more money for a "fancy" term.

NO OTC dewormers..they are ineffective and can be dangerous.

Only use a dewormer perscribed by a vet. They will give you the appropriate dewormer for the type of worms and for the size/weight of the puppy.

The puppy should be taken to the vet for a complete exam as well.He needs to start his vacciantion series when he is 8 weeks old.

don't waist the money on the vet, 50 years ago country people didn't use vets.. ppfftt.. what you need is some nemex.. you can get it at wal-mart, any co-op, or feed store. also for tape worms, ask for adam's no-mo worm pills...

The best thing you can do for your dog is take him to the vet. The vet will take care of the worm problem and prevent them from happening again.

If you don't take the dog to the vet, it will die from the worms...all dogs are born with worms and must be dewormed. I hope you have taken it in for shots too???
