A judge will consider several facts before sentencing for an offense.

Just a few of the considerations are;

- what injuries resulted from the assault
- why the assault occurred
- what are the states minimum sentencing laws that specifically relate to the assault

Most often for first time offenders, the judge will order probation, time served, court costs and fines, and any resitution for medical bills etc.

Best wishes!
