Does it matter that a large number of illegals are being deported from the US after being in jail?

Personally I do have a problem with illegals just flowing into United States unchecked .
And I have to agree with the ICE spokesperson - That if something really bad happens , American citiizens would have the right to point fingers and demand anwers.

About half of the nearly 190,000 illegal immigrants deported last year had criminal records, U.S. authorities said.

This isn't really an immigration issue. It's a public safety issue," ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said. "You can be sure there'll be a finger-pointing drill at the end of the day if they do something evil."

The other side of the coin....but do illegals have American rights or is this just an excuse to overlook their behavoir?...
"It's a practice that leads to weakening or eliminating civil liberties," said Nativo Lopez, president of the Los Angeles-based Mexican American Political Association.

Illegals have no American rights except to be treated fairly and humanely until they are deported.

They are criminals, plain and simple.

My initial reaction is to drive them all home, but that isn’t an answer either, like it or not we need immigrants. The question is, are we going to control the immigration process or let it control us. It seems very clear to me that the first thing we must do is get control of the border. That means, making sure that no undocumented aliens cross that border. Secondly, there must be a program developed for employers in this country who require foreign national workers, to get them legally. It should include hiring them in their home country and starting through a process of governmental checks. This will assure that they are paid realistically and are not used, which will also make it easier for citizens of this country to compete for those same jogs if they so desire. Along with this, employers who hire illegal aliens must receive heavy penalties including large fines and even jail time. Of course this means a process where an employer can easily check the legality of the employee applicant. With this process should also be a removal of the practice of giving citizenship to those born within the United States to foreign national parents. Those who wish to become American citizens must get in line behind those who are ahead of them in the legal citizenship process. No amnesty!

The problem with that 190,000 number is that out of about a MILLION that came illegally, only 190,000 of them were deported. They focused on the convicted criminal ones they happened to learn were illegally here and they will be checking on more categories of criminals going forward (historically they have only checked on felonies). However, they simply are not enforcing against the others. There are even a number of cities including Chicago, LA and El Paso where police are not permitted to ask about immigration status except under specific circumstances.

It is definitely a public safety issue, but it is ALSO an immigration issue. They are swamping our schools and services.

It matters that there aren't MORE that are being deported after being in jail and that the criminals keep coming back. There have been numerous murders committed by illegal alien criminals that have been jail and deported many times.

As for illegal alien criminals having rights here - NO WAY! They have no rights and should stop demanding them. It they were citizens, then they would have rights.

This is not a racist statement. It is the LAW.

The problem is that they are not running continous flights or buses so that these people don't spend time in our jails. Natavio as well as the ACLU have taken the 14th amendment so far out of context that everybody has civil liberties except for the "citizens" of the U.S. As long as you have these people and as long as Americans continue to allow these groups to get away with raping the constitution it will only get worse.

Personally.....I think it's great they are finally deporting these people. They should be deported simply for being here illegally......but they are concentrating on the felons right now. This is the worst of the worst....multiple offenders......but here they are crying about wanting a moritorium on ALL deporting. Please. If I was illegal and hoping for mercy......I wouldn't be whining on having Bundy deported.......or having a drug dealer deported. Even if they grant some sort of amnesty.....it WILL NOT BE A 100% everybody's who's here gets a free get out of jail card.....THERE WILL BE ALOT WHO GET NO..for an answer!!!!!!! Pick and choose carefully while you're DEMANDING rights.........coz right now you may be cutting your nose off for a child molester and ruining ANY possibility for the so called "innocent" of the bunch.

actually no it probably doesn't because they are just going to come right back in. i know this because my dad used to be an assistant manager and he would find out some of the people were immigrants and they would be deported( i don't think he told) then he would see them at work the next week( thats kind of why i don't think he told, he knew they would be back in a week).
it does but it doesn't, because honestly think about it. over there they might not get fresh water, food, or a roof over their head, but over here in jail they get all those things.

Nativo Lopez speaking of US civil liberties granted for each american citizen(i.e legal residents) or is he talking civil liberties for those very same people (that are here illegally to begin with) demanding we give them amnesty and trying to strangle our infrastructure thru force of authority? Hmm. Legal citizens can protest till their faces turn blue, but illegal invaders can be considered enemy combatants enabling an unconventional warfare practice(psychologivcal) that most US citizens wouldn't even notice because of the apathetic slumber they're in. The may 2006 illegal immigration protests were a shining example of that. My advice would be to stop with the spin. Your game is up.

Illegals and their so called "anchor" babies have no rights. Rights are for citizens who have pledged their allegiance to the united states of America.. Screw the illegals and their supporters, especially la raza and the aclu. Costa Mesa Ca. is the first city in the US to enforce immigration laws. I called the police here in north San Diego and told them I was the manager of home depot and had 15 of them rounded up for loitering. They weren't there as of this morning. This is one of the ways to help your community. If you have to Lie to clean them out, so be it. They do.
