A goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland in the neck. This gland produces hormones that regulate metabolism.

1. non-tox = nontoxic. This means that the nodules are not producing significant excess thyroid hormone.

2. multinodular = many nodules. This means that the goiter has more than one lumpy area.
