King David because he was honest to admit when he screwed up and God respected his honesty and blessed him for it.
Elijah the Prophet because even though God did mighty miracles through him, he still had a human nature with doubts and fears and God worked with him anyway, showing us that no-matter how weak we are God is strong.
And John, who's version of the gospel is entirely from a different perspective, as he was more about the emotions and explanations of who and what Jesus's purpose was.

Two, no three of my favorites are Ruth and Naomi and Boaz.
Ruth was an outsider and her people were enemies of the Israelites but she watched her godly mother-in-law and realized that the God Naomi believed in was the one true God.
Each of them went far beyond doing only enough to get by.
With their examples I try to live my life so that other people will want to know the God that I worship.

I like Saul. Here is a man who Lived for God, was the First king of Israel, and then was supplanted by David, because God decided Saul was of no use any longer. He is one of the anti heros in the bible.
I also like Lot's daughters and Delighla.

errr.... Samson( The Book Of Judges) How many people you know beat down a thousand soldiers with not a sword, but a jaw bone of a donkey? Or tear off city gates and carry them away? Or lastly, (My favorite) Samson's riddle for thirty garments? ("If you would not have plowed my heifer, you would not know the answer...")

I've always had a soft spot for Cain's un-named wife who dwelt in the land of 'Nod', wherever she came from. She would basically be the ancestor of most of humanity, since other than Eve she's the first female mentioned. She doesn't get ANY of the credit she deserves.
