Because of matriculation fees and such, it will cost over $500 for just one class. When I took all the rest of my classes, 12-15 hours at a time the total fees were around $900 a semester. I understand why it's more expensive(per hour) to take just one class, but I don't have an extra $500 since I'm going to have to work less whilst in school.

I would suggest that you start at the financial aide office and ask them if there is anything that can be done as far as financial assistance goes. If nothing is available then go to the Bursar's office and ask them if you can make payments over time. If still not getting anywhere you might want to ask your employer for help as he can dock your pay directly for what you might owe him for the semester. Don't forget there is the cost of books and supplies if the class has a lab attached to it.

Lastly and this has worked in the past... ... go directly to the Dean of Students and ask him for assistance with the Bursar's Office accepting time payments. Assure them they will be paid by semester's end or they can hold your diploma till you pay them!

Good Luck
Hope it works out well for you.

Once you turn 24 you are able for more financial aid help from FAFSA, you may want to try signing up for financial aid loans.

On the other hand, since it's just one class you may be able to do this instead: (it really works)
Write a formal letter to local businesses asking them to sponsor you for your higher education. Here is how:
Write a general letter but be professional stating who you are and what you are doing. At the end make sure to say you will write them a receipt for their donation so they can write it off with their taxes and that you will promote them in some way. At the end of the letter or on a seperate sheet of paper provide an itemization of expenses (list your expenses and their approximate costs) be sure to state that any donation would be accepted.
Tips: the more letters you send out the better chances you have, the earlier you send them out in the year the better chances you have, universities are a great source of money but be sure to send to all departments in the university, start with local businesses (the home grown type) then branch out to more well known places, if you know the manager of the store address the letter to them although this is not necessary, follow up in person if you have the resources although this is not necessary.

have you thought about taking the needed class and N elective. Then you would hve 6 hours and qualify for PT aid. IT's cheaper in the long run to take another class then to pay the difference. You may later want to get a bachelors and that class would help toward that and as an inde. student you can get up to $2000 pell and even loans

Maybe your work has some kind of program that they will help you go to school ,check into that.
Think about buying used books,to save you some bucks.$500.00 less will hurt right now,but it will pay off in the long run.
Put off paying a bill,or selling something of yours to get the money,or take a loan out at your bank or credit union and pay it off,or use a credit card.
