This has been covered in many news stories.

Why are you believing one website that has an obvious bias?

first I ask you to consider the source of your information, the website you listed is a Muslim web site, now before you get angry I want to say there is nothing wrong with that. Okay secondly, Najaf is a predominately a shiia city in southern Iraq, many of the militia members for the Al Sadr army are found in that area, also al Sadr himself is thought to be near that location. I am sure the military operation in that area was an attempt to locate him and key leaders of his party. So i return to you a question is it a massacre to kill 200 in order to save the lives of thousands and prevent civil war??

Since when is desiclassified arab its an India site, and if you qnt more questions answered about sources here are a few, India times , Asian Times , NY times Christiona Science Monitor , Navy timesd Airforce Tmes, Mioitry .com, cockburn report, JustinRaimondo a Libertarin and world known Columnist, The BBC, Damn near every news rag and media pouitlet in British Isles Boston Globe, and yes Al Jazeera, Iran News agencys, Phillipine Manilla news, Many if you go to African News .org site but then you may have to pay and BS is cheap.
BBC has been trying to get the U
S military to stop lyuing to them for over one year after they got caught with pants down over US lies by reporting just wha tUS military says to them. BBC says there is no independnet news from Baghdad it is all sponsored by US military. there is no pipeline for news it is hand fed to US and any other news organizatios no one writes independently and is allowed in country anymore.
the same persoanlitys as did the old Nahjaf mosque killings are mixed up in here , Do you even know of the MEK a terroist still listed by US but we now sponsor them and use thier informsation to kill supposedly terroist.
What US did was help massacre a shia group who to this day had no information as to any attempt to kill any oher shia group. Hell our military and politcal estblishment is like a couple of responders here all they care about is killing Iraquis never mind the how or for whom they are doing so.
