In its day, it must have been a spectacular place. From the king's palace on the north end you can see miles up the Jordan river valley. The balconies cut from the sides of the cliffs are so beautiful, one could stand there all day and watch the sea below... not to mention all the stars that show up in the desert night sky. There are many beautiful sights in the world, Matsada is just one.

I'm not really fond of desert views, I like ocean views better. But I think the history that goes along with Masada makes it breathtaking.

Once you come to grips with the historical significance of the place you're standing and able to think about the view, its spectacular.

From a view perspective, I'd say impressive, but, to me, not spectacular. To echo others, it the significance of the place that makes it a worthwhile visit to me.
