A relaxer makes your hair eally straight a texturizer sounds like a perm, to give you curly hair, giving it texture.

RE: Texturizer Vs. Relaxers? I am a black woman, age 21, who is considering going from natural to texturized hair. I have just transitioned from having relaxed hair and I was wondering if texturizers were any safer for hair or if texturizing would be even necessary. All I really want are curls that are looser and more defined...

Relaxers are used to chemically straighten hair. Texturizers are weaker relaxers that don't straighten the hair, they leave a wave pattern in the hair. It isn't like a curly perm though and depending on the length of your hair, it probably won't be tight curls.

You can texturize hair with a relaxer by leaving it on for a shorter period of time. Basically texturizing loosens the hair, while relaxers loosen the hair to a greater extent....giving you straight hair.

Hope that helps.

Relaxers chemically straighten your hair (can be more damaging)
Texturizer are similar to Jheri curls-small tight curls where the hair stays moist. (less damaging)
