Aiken, Milano, Glover. etc... These issues they talk about are not new, it's been happening since before some of us were born. But why is it, we as a whole, not the individual find it neccessary to want to change the world and help out with the cause when some of the biggest names in the industry get involved. Now everyone has a solution in fact some of their questions have 3000 answers worth of solutions. What is it that when a celebrity jumps up and says "join this cause" that triggers people minds and hearts, instead of an average joe asking you to do the same?

Good question, my friend. Very good question, indeed.

The problem is, most people are followers. Majority don't care much about the world except their own back yard. However, they do care about the Super Bowl, The American Idol, or gossiping and dishing the dirt about the rich and famous and celebrities. They watch the news and say... "oh, it ain't my problem... I've got enough problems of my own.." but they will watch what the celebrities are wearing and buy their name-brand clothing or purses and shoes, etc. They will go to see their favorite celebrity's concerts and cheer and laugh and cry - but they don't care much about the world.

So, when a celebrity jumps up and says... "join this cause", they will most likely do it.. It's sad, but true.. It's because they listen to their words and follow them like sheep. Fortunately, it's for a good cause.

This is the psychology of the masses, my friend. If you want to do something, you got to start doing it.. By doing what needs to be done, you lead yourself instead of following the crowd. This makes you a leader. When you get better at what you do, you will be able to lead others just like the celebrities did. Leaders innovate... followers imitate.

We are a celebrity oriented society. The problem is that these celibates are as lost as a three-year-old left alone in a busy mall. These celebrities are out to keep their names before the public to distract the public from the corruption in their lives. Smart people are not fooled. In reality, the only person they care about is themselves. If they truly cared, then they would divest themselves of all their money and property, pick up the cross and follow Christ. Put that before them and you will see how many of the run. As you can tell I have an exceptionally low opinion of Hollywood, Nashville and all the other celebrity hot spots.

I think most of us do care. It's just that nobody listens to the little people. I say over and over that our government's slogan needs to be "Government VS. the People." So the only time causes usually make the news is when celebrities stand up against something. I WISH, and I don't understand why not, that more celebrities would stand up and draw attention, and we could back them and be heard finally!

Because they have instant access to the media. If a "normal person" cares and does things to change the world, for the most part, it goes unreported.

But since you have entire networks devoted to celebrities (E), and many magazines, they have an outlet for 'their causes'.
The odd thing is that, usually, someone is already working hard at these causes & the celebrities don't bring anything to the cause.

First I agree with you, 2nd, I think you have all wrong, celebrities are people like you and me but with media, finance and influencial presence. those celebrities are doing the right things and we should thank and praise God for them. I'm 34 years old and every since I can remember, my dad has been working with and for some charities and non profit organizations but it takes them years to get their points across and arm and leg to be financed. So if we have to rely on the governments to act, believe me, nothing and I mean absolutely NOTHING would be done about thes issues. I see what you mean and thats good but I dont think we shouldnt do or answer them just bcuz.
thanx!

we're not all like that. there are a lot of people that care and try to do something about the problems we face every day.
unfortunately there is probably an equal number that only respond when celebrities do.
maybe they think that some of that notoriety will rub off. or they feel like if they are doing something that a celebrity is doing then they have something in common with that person.

I can't answer that for anyone else, never once did a celebrity spark my passion for helping others.

Celebrity worship in the country plays a huge part in that, and then some people didn't even pay attention past their last night television shows until these actors started saying something.

I don't care why they do it, I just hope they start doing something.

Anybody with any sense wouldn't listen to a celebrity. They don't
care for their own people much less third world countries. Their
only ambition in life is feathering their own nests. They don't make these touching humanitarian speaches from the goodness of their heart. They get well paid for it.
