It's the preperation time...you see just like $9.99 is really ten bucks 30 minute meals actually take 30 minutes to cook and probably 10 to prepare...then at least 15 to clean up from!

Because if you are talking about the 30 minute meals you see on tv, then they have already took the time to prepare and wash the food before actually making it.

Between the prepping which other people do, have you ever noticed she puts something in the oven and there's a fully cooked one in there already??
So she can assemble it in 30 minutes, but with actually cooking time it's always longer.

Because you don't have everything sitting in front of you, already chopped up and cleaned, in little pre-measured bowls.
Mise en Place....hope I didn't spell it wrong.
But you can hurry up those meals by pre-preparing all the ingredients the night before and then just having them at hand when you do go to cook.
Plus, then you get to pretend you're hosting a cooking show because it's all measured and ready to go. It's fun.
