I bought my son some clothes (he's 2) and the zippers on the sweaters keep getting stuck and when I wash the pants they get warped around the waist .... same with the collers of his shirts... I get his clothes at target.... and they are about 20 dollars an outfit... I think it would be crazy to spend more than that, he only wears them for a few months. ....

Try the Children's Place. They have cute clothes, good prices, and great sales. I find their clothes to be of good quality. I am far away from shopping, so I love to shop there on-line- $5 shipping!

My niece wears mostly Gymboree and Baby Gap because I have found that these wash the best. We have bought her stuff from Walmart, Kmart and Mejiers and they really don't last after a couple of washes. They will either fade or start coming apart. We shop a lot of resale shops, goodwill, garage sales and ebay. I don't really pay full price for any of her clothes plus once she is done with them, I can usually sell them and get almost all of my money back. I find that one of the advantages of buying the name brand clothing.

I quit getting kids clothes at Target for the EXACT same reason! I buy them at the Gap and they can be resold on eBay when they've outgrown them. They don't wear out like target clothes, even the Gap t-shirts that we got as a hand me downs have gone through 3 little kids and aren't thrashed yet! You get what you pay for in this case.

p.s. I love that you used the word crappy, it's one of my faves;-)

I buy my daughters everyday clothes at goodwill because of the fact that she only wears them for a short time. I get a lot of good clothes there and her clothes that she wears out I buy on clearance. I got to a lot of different places and I don't think I have ever paid full price for ANY of my daughters clothing.

I don't like Target's clothes for kids either. Try The Children's Place and Old Navy. Same prices if not cheaper when you hit the sales right and better quality!

We have so much better luck with our nephews handme downs, some as old as 10 years, before the OldNavys, Targets, Walmarts and the cheap manufacturing came around. Lost of Levis jeans, granted theyre patched, but they actually stay up. Plus the winter coats actually appear to be warm - I think its -10 here today.

There are stores that guarantee that the child will outgrow the clothing before they wear it out. You should be looking for some place like there. The one that springs to mind is Shopko. If there isn't one in your area you can order on the web.

Good luck!

I've had pretty good luck with outfits from Carter's. They seem to be well made and last through a lot of washings. You can frequently get them on good sales, so they don't cost a lot.

Kids grow out of clothes fast, so they don't have to be built to last.

I'd get as much stuff as possible from rummage sales & goodwill. Buying new stuff is ususally a bad idea.
