When you sleep all of your muscles relax and are paralyzed. Have you ever waken up with the feeling that are are about to fall? this is because you have woken up suddenly and the muscles haven't had time to 'unparalyze' themselves

Researchers have concluded that during sleep paralyisis half of the brain is still asleep and the other half awake when YOU "wake up". At this point of waking up you feel completly awake and don't realize that your having the paralysis. Also you wake up paralyzed, unable to move and unable to speak. To top it off everyone that has reported this disorder has reported sensing or seeing an "evil" presence in the room, usually a demon, witch(hag), or ghost. It is a VERY freightening experience until the person completly wakes up and then realizes what actually happened wasn't real and was only the sleep paralysis. I have often had this to myself. It is very scary to say the least!!

When you wake up and can't move. It only last seconds. Some might have had an out of body experience (the soul take a trip on its own) and experience sleep paralysis as the soul re-enters the body.
