America will not win the war.....Americans, expecially libs will not tolerate a winning attitude and will throw up enough roadblocks to make sure that does not happen. That would be the worst outcome politically for the dems. If we get close to winning they will trump up some b.s. so they can cut the funding. America does not have the stomach for any type of siege mentallity because it detracts from their time in front of the tube, distracts from making money, and generally interferes with the everyday activities of not giving a s**t. The war is in front of them every night and we get bored rather easily. One setback in a battle and we are ready to give up and go home. its just too hard. We have the best fighting force and equipment known to man up to this time but are scared to death to use it because the other "don't give a damn" nations might get upset. But when its their *** on fire who ya gonna call??? You got it. Been that way for the last 100 years and I doubt if it will change. We should be more concerned about doing the right thing versus the politically correct thing but thats not going to happen-the dems have the power now and we all know their track record. Appeasement has never worked-ask neville chamberlain. Our enemy has sworn an oath to destroy Israel and us yet folks here still don't get it. Amazing-and lethal. The Shia will take over Iraq with Iran running the show just as they do in Lebanon and Syria. Then we will see one hell of a war between them and Saudi Arabia which is predominately sunni. The Kurds, who we will protect (maybe), will stand their ground and have a good chance of inheriting whats left in Iraq which won't be much. Will the middle eastern oil fields in ruins we can expect to pay 10 bucks or so a gallon from Chavez, thats if he hasn't decided by then that we are vulnerable enough to attack from the south with his other partners in south america. Don't know if all this is gonna happen but I think it has a good shot because the dems have an excellent chance of winning the big job in '08 and ya just know they won't elect a warrior. The beat goes on-for how long is up to us.

It depends on what you mean by winning. Certainly the United States doesn’t understand enough about the cultural dynamics of Iraq, nor do they have enough experience fighting a guerilla war, to combat terrorism and insurgency through conventional military means.

If by “winning” you are referring to which ethnic, or religious group, will gain supremacy, then in all likelihood it would seem that the Shiites are going to be the most successful. There are several legitimate reasons to believe that Shiite ascendancy will be inevitable. First, they are the majority in that country. Second, the U.S. through their own strategic incompetence dismantled the minority Sunni population that kept them in line. Finally, they are receiving assistance from Iran, a powerful Shiite country with overarching ideological aspirations for Shiite control over strategic points in the Middle East.

Iran will win the battle for Iraq, they already have the Govornment they want in place,as for the war, that will go on long into the future because the Americans, when they finally leave, will only go as far as Saudi Arabia, which is what all this middle east fighting is about in the first place.Depressing aint it?

I think the British Team will win the Iraq war,we got a better midfield than the Iraqis, and if we play with three upfront im sure we take three or four off them. Just keep it tight early doors, and try and nick one before half-time,and im sure we can wrap it up in the second-half.

Iran has the most to gain and will most likely "win".

Yes, Bush has handed most of Iraq and regional hegemony to the Iranians. Brilliant.

Why? Most of Iraq is Shiite, the sect of Islam espoused by Iran. They share common cultural, religious and linguistic ties - in fact, many if not most Shiite Imams were trained in Iran. The removal of Saddam only served to allow the minority and brutally oppressive Sunnis to get some payback. By the Shiites. The Sunni-Shiite war you see now is a direct result. By virtue of numbers, the Shiites will win...that is to say that when the Americans leave (and we will) the Shiite majority will turn to...Iran. Their cultural and idealogical brethren. The now covert Iranian support will immediately become overt.

So all we have done is hand over Iraq and its oil to Iran. While simultaneously diminishing our own world standing.

Thousands of brave US soldiers dead. Billions lost.

And Iran wins.

Brilliant job neocons.

Can't win.

Only thing to do is make the enemy submissive and docile of your will. Fear and terror is a good way of doing that.

Which side is raining down the most terror is the winner.

Though planes used as missiles, and be headings are all terrorising, The massive artillery force that came after the Islamic jihadists are scary to...(Oh you know US, UK, and all the rest artillery)

I think the best to hope for is them rolling over, bearing there stomachs in a submissive way like a dog and out of fear decide not to nuke our country with a dirty bomb. We will never win there ideals over, and they will feel we are infidels to the day they die, as we will believe they are simply WRONG till the day we die!

With as much death as is going on there, i would say "winning" is not my first choice of words. However i don't think It's going to be us. It's not the failure of the troops, it's the Bush Administration for sending them into a war on false pretense and then not giving them enough troops to do the job. If we sent another 300,000 troops in we could, at least in the short run, stabilize the country. Not the best option but effective. Why aren't we sending in enough guys to finish this? And then get them home?

The Shiites. They are the most vicious and soon Iran can provide them with nuclear dirty bombs, or worse. The Shiites have a mentality similar to the Taliban and are trying to create a similarly oppressive society.

If we have the same courage as the folks who stormed the beaches at Normandy, I believe we can prevent the Islamist takeover and help the Iraqis turn Iraq into a relatively peaceful and benign nation.

The hard part is teaching Democrats what the word 'courage' means.

this is a tough call.

after the usa leaves - whether it be 1 year or 25 years from now - the sunni and shiites will have their war.

iran will side with the shiites and saudi arabia will side with the sunni.

the best and only way for the usa to 'win' is to partition now.
