If we have such a loving God, why are some people, for example born Hindu? They are most definately going to be Hindu, raise Hindu children and then by the bible, go to hell. This means that they are destined to go to hell. I know you're saying that they can change their relidgion, but say someone came up to you and told you that Brahmen was the all powerful source of all life and that you had to belive in it to be reincarnated? You wouldn't change your relidgion. So does that make those people destined to go to hell?

Because believers are constantly remaking God into the image they need him to be, then there is never an easily described, universally understood God. I've heard it said that this relates to the blind men and the elephant, each feeling a different body part and feeling like they knew exactly what the elephant was like.

One man felt the ear and thought the elephant was like a fan.
Another felt the trunk and thought the elephant was like a snake.
Another felt the elephant's side and thought the elephant was like a wall.
Another felt the leg and thought the elephant was like a tree.
Another felt the tail and thought the elephant was like a rope.
Another felt a tusk and thought the elephant was like a sword.

But perhaps what there was no elephant. They were simply told to expect one, and when they felt a fan, a snake, a wall, a tree, a rope, or a sword, they became convinced that this is the nature of an elephant.

This is what I think has happened. When a person expects god, they label the experience as divine. When, on the other hand, they have no such presupposition, then there are other references that make just as much sense and don't require a leap of faith.

I heard someone speaking on this issue just yesterday. The thinking is that only people who actually reject Truth, and reject Jesus, while 'knowing' that He is the Way, go to hell. It is a choice. There is also a key phrase in the Bible in 1 John, that says, "God is Love, and anyone who lives in Love lives in God... and anyone who says they love God, whom they can't see, while hating their neighbor, whom they can see, is a liar.. "

So, to use your example, if a person is born into a Hindu family, in a Hindu area, and does not know Jesus, and this Hindu person does live in Love, then this HIndu person can get to heaven, surprise. The person knows Love, even though s/he might not know that it is from God, through Jesus.

On the other hand, if a person is born into a 'Christian' family in a 'Christian' area, and knows the verses that talk about our duties to be charitable, patient, forgiving and merciful, but rejects this in favor of selfishness, then ,, guess where they are choosing to go?

Neither. We are all born into a world where we are separated from God by our imperfections (actions and inactions called sin). The Hindu is no better nor worse off than anyone else in terms of being destined to "hell." God's provision for the saving of each soul is revealed in His message to us. His creation declares Him; He has given His prophets to speak, and to write the message of God; He sent His Son to show it is His death and resurrection that gives life to those who would believe; and it is the responsibility of born again believers to live and speak this message to others. God does not want "religion." He wants His children to have an eternal relationship with Him which is possible through saving faith in Jesus.

God judges each person by the heart; He "winks" at our ignorance. He will not send someone to Hell who simply didn't know any better. Only those who consciously choose to reject God. The Bible says that God will not return until everyone on Earth who is able has made the decision for or against Christ.

Because the popular Christian concept of such people going to hell is wrong.

I have a lot of respect for Christianity and Jesus' teachings...but there are a few errors.

Our God is indeed a loving God.. and no one is going to "hell".
We came to earth for two reasons and two reasons only.. To obtain a body, and live our lives in a Christ like manner. We also came here with free agency, the freedom to make our own choices, knowing that if we made mistakes we absolutley could be and would be forgiven. There is no wrong religion.

I fear you are beating your head against a brick wall. Though you have an excellent question. I doubt you'll get any really serious, well thought-out answers, however. You'll probably get a whole slew of "Jesus is the way and the light" or "Read the Bible - it's all in there".

the people who are born hindu and die hindu without knowing the christian faith will not go to hell, as they were not made aware of the truth. Therefor they cannot be held culpable for their lack of knowlage.

as far as religion is concerned, you are either right or wrong, you must decide for yourself which one you are, its the downside to free will

stego - WHAT Bible are YOU reading????

According to Torah (yes, THE original Bible...you know, the Five Books of Moses), ALL people of ALL faiths are welcome into the Kingdom of God (Adonai).

For that matter, Judaism teaches that even if a person does NOT believe, they still are welcome.

Maybe you are the follower of some other religious belief that is closed-minded and has a litany of man-made rules that force a person to believe as they do...and NOT as God would want us to believe.

Besides, regardless of your faith or the faith of others, ALL paths lead to God.
No one religion has the right answer.
Anyone telling you different is not only wrong, but in my opinion, evil.
