Are you still being taxed on an emergency code? If so why? It should say on your pay slip what your tax code is. That will denote how much pay you can have free from tax. I'm not sure what the current level is because I don't live in the UK anymore but the information is available on the inland revenue website, or you can call them, they are very helpful. If you are still paying emergency tax, which sometimes happens when you first start work, then your entire wages will be taxed. However, as soon as the tax code is changed your tax rebate will be paid back with your wages. Start by speaking to whoever is responsible for wages where you are employed, you can always give the tax office a call if you don't get any joy there.

I don't believe so.

Ring the Inland Revenue and ask.
