That is a hard question to answer based on the lack of information.
First of all, how did you end up getting in touch with your first love after 22 years? Are you currently corresponding online, talking on the phone, writing letters? Would he be expecting the meeting to be a romantic encounter or just one to catch up on old times? How was the relationship 22 years ago? Was it a bad breakup, did you just lose touch.....
These are all questions that would ultimately lead to whether or not you should meet up with him. If it was an amiably break up and you two just lost touch over the years, then it has more potential of being a positive encounter. If it was a horrible break up and you spent years getting over him, why would you want to open old wounds?
And let's not forget the fact that you are not "quite" single. I am not entirely sure what that means, but I'm guessing something along the lines of..."I'm not happy, I just haven't done anything about it.". If that's the case, then you need to be honest with your current partner. I know, it's easier said than done.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

Wow after 22 years you both want to meet up again hey maybe it could be destiny you never know! But why did you both split in the first place? and you both could have changed again but Maybe when you see him all those beautiful feelings will come back again the butterflies in your tummy and constantly thinking about him and all those wounderfull times you have shared together before....I'm all about Destiny so you know what GO FOR IT! and Even if you not quite single you can't stop how the heart feels and it's not like your going to cheat on the person your with right now just tell him your going to meet up with a really good old friend of yours and if you fall back in love with the other then tell your partner of now that it's over but nicer then that

There is a saying that you should always look forward and never look back. Although saying that I have found myself longing for my first love time and time again.
I assume by your question that you are in touch with your first love and just haven't arranged to meet yet?
The not quite single is a concern though. Who is going to get hurt during this? And is it going to work out for the best or are you going to end up alone with your present partner also not wanting to know? These are all questions you need to take into consideration.
Sorry for the negative point of view but it's all things worth considering.
Hope I have helped.

Yes, you should. Never pass up an oppurtunity to meet with old friends. Be it someone you loved or someone you barely new. Just go in with no expectations and remember we all change. It's okay to compare with the way things use to be but don't try to make them what they use to be. You may find you have nothing in common now. But at least you gave it a chance. As for you NOT being single yet, respect that. Tell your first love the truth up front and if your still married also tell your mate, even if your in the process of a divorce or what ever. Keep things on the up and up and don't expect to much out of it. I have met several old friends lately and wouldnt trade it for the world. Im glad I met them again and would be highly disappointed in myself had I turned them down. So my answer is a resounding,.....YES.

It depends on what u expect from the reunion. You are not single so wait until u are then meet up. Plenty of people have rekindled old love affairs and plenty more have been unable to find the person they used to love. Memory can play tricks on u only reliving the good ones doesn't give a true picture. Why did u break up in the first place for example?

NO NO NO!! The past is the past and that's where it should stay!! just think of the life changes you both have been through, Just keep the memories you have of how wonderful he was, and don't be disappointed by what he may have become also you don't sound as if you are free to do this anyway so you must look at why you are doing this if you can not follow through, the grass is always greener on the other side till you get there and find there is as much mud there as the place you left. keep the memories good luck!

Hi OMG
Not quite single? what does that mean?
Nothing wrong with meeting a special friend from the past but don't be assumin that you gonna run off into the sunset happily ever after, or else you gonna be dissapointed. that special time has past & 22 years is a long time gone

Why? He isn't the same. You are not the same. Times changes people and that person you knew 22 years ago is gone. And you're not quite single.

your parents are doing what is best for you. You cannot BE with family. I know that you can have feelings for family. I have not ever had feelings for my family but it is normal to have feelings for someone you are close with. It is normal to want tobe with them. If you give yourself a chance to look for other men, you will find someone you care and love a lot. I would not be able to talk to my parents about it. i do not know how your parents are. They are probably doing what they think is best for you because they know it is just going to hurt you in the end. you would never be able to actually have a life together. It will be hard. I am not going to say that you can talk to them and they will be willing, because they will not. You are too young to know what is going to happen to you before you turn 18. I thought i would be with my boyfriends forever when i was 15...we broke up after 10 months. I had a boyfriend who was 22 at 16....i loved him. then it did not work out because he didnt want anyone knowing we were together. It is possible to find someone else you love as much. Give yourself some hope. There is someone out there for you besides your cousin. have some faith in yourself. you can have anyone besides family that you want.

Interestingly enough, my wife was going through a similar "thing" in that she wanted to go and visit her "First-Love"
It was a difficult decision for me, but none the less I let her go! My reason was simple. First understand that time and circumstance changes everything. The person you were once attracted to and the reasons for the attraction have changed in both of you. If your living in the past and or expecting things to be the same, you will be disappointed... Even in your current situation.
Buy letting her go, she realized that her life and her "love" was where it was intended to be, with me.
Was there a risk... yes, could she have decided she wanted to be with him? The risk of her not knowing and being discontent in our relationship was greater.
