Go to the IRS link I have pasted below. They give you a list of vendors to choose from. In most cases you have to meet certain financial requirements to file for free. And some states do not have free file for state taxes, but some do.

I chose Turbo Tax Freedom Edition because I met the AGI requirements. I qualified for free e-filing for both state and federal taxes!!

go to www.irs.gov I have been finding this year that I might have to pay like 7.00 last year it was free file federal but you had to pay for state or mail state in for free. So I mailed in state. But look over what they have to offer. It does say that if you make under 50 grand is suppose to be free. I am still working on it.

I never understood that myself, in alot of cases your federal refund is larger than your state tax, so why charge for state? This year was a first for me, I got my state refund first and then my federal, normally it's the other way around.
