SORRY I HAD TO POST IT HERE, I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO POST THIS QUESTION.

ALRIGHT THERE WAS A LITTLE OLD LADY WHO PASSED AWAY, AND THERE HAS BEEN RUMORS SAYING THE HOUSE IS GOING TO BE PUT UP FOR SALE. IT IS A REALLY CUTE HOUSE AND BOTH CODY AND I ARE VERY INTERESTED IN BUYING IT. WE ARE WANTING TO CATCH THEM AND HOPEFULLY NEGOTIATE WITH THE ONE'S WHO ARE SELLING IT BEFORE THEY LIST IT WITH A REAL ESTATE COMPANY BECAUSE IT WOULD AVOID A WHOLE BUNCH OF UN NEEDED COSTS TO DO IT THAT WAY. NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM WE KEEP DRIVING BY THE HOUSE HOPING TO CATCH ONE OF THE ELDERLY WOMEN'S KIDS THERE AND WE HAVE SO FAR NOT HAD ANY LUCK, WE KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN COMING BY EVERY DAY BUT WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CATCH ANY OF THEM. NOW I WAS WONDERING DO YOU THINK THAT IT WOULD BE RUDE OF ME TO TYPE OF A LETTER AND LEAVE IT ON THE DOOR OF THAT HOUSE WITH OUR NUMBER, OR DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE OK. I DON'T WANT THEM TO THINK I AM BEING DISRESPECTFUL OR ANYTHING.

The house is beautiful and we don't want to have to wait for it to go on the market and wait and go through all the crap that realtor's make you go through that is why we are wanting to negotiate with them beforehand so that we don't have to go through all of that. I just want to make sure that I wouldn't be offending anyone by witting a letter.

I KNOW THEY ARE SELLING THE HOUSE BECAUSE THE FAMILY OF THE ELDERLY WOMEN HAS ALREADY SAID THAT THEY WERE GOING TO. THAT IS HOW I KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO BE SELLING THE HOUSE. THE CHILDREN OF THE ELDERLY WOMEN LIVE QUITE A WAYS AWAY SO THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO KEEP THE HOUSE THAT IS WHY THEY ARE SELLING IT. I WOULDN'T BE ASKING THIS OR EVEN RISK MAKING MYSELF LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT IF I WASN'T SURE IF THEY WERE GOING TO BE SELLING THE HOUSE.

I KNOW OF ALL THE LEGAL THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, MY MOTHER IS A REAL ESTATE AGENT AND SO SHE WILL HELP US DO EVERYTHING THAT WOULD BE DONE IF THEY HOUSE HAD BEEN LISTED. SO I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE NICE TO CUT OUT ALL OF THE MONEY THAT IS PUT INTO LISTING A HOUSE

No, it would not be rude. Write a note and leave it on the door. I would! If you really like the house tell them how much you like the house and was wondering if they were interested in selling it.

Go ahead and write the note. Be careful not to talk about Realtors and all the crap, as you put it, they make you go through. You don't know if any of them is in Real Estate and that would be offensive.

Be wary of buying something without legal representation, though. You have no idea what you are getting unless you do your due dilligence. And, if you don't know what that means, then maybe you should have a Real Estate Agent involved. They are well versed in what is and what is not allowed, legal and reasonable.

Good luck

I know it seems in bad taste to do this but if you where already told they where selling the house then I would definitely leave a note!
I agree it would actually take a lot of hassle away doing it without the agent!
Whats the worse thing that could happen? They don't sale it to you? You will still have a chance then buying it through the Realtor.
Just my opinion.

Good property investors do this all the time. I highly recommend leaving a note in the mailbox if you want to buy. You will save thousands on real estate agent commissions and paperwork. The family would probably be grateful, as this will save them a lot of hassle, too.

I think it would be fine to leave a couteous letter on the door. Just say you were sorry to here of the death of their loved one and would really like to speak to them briefly and leave your phone number. If they call, you can then ask what they plan to do with the house. It may be that one of them is planning to move in. If they say they are going to sell it, then you can express your interest.

Ummm, no, I wouldn't do that. If all you have are rumors of the house going up for sale, then it may be just that...rumors. Perhaps she left the house to her children?

In any case, I would consider it rude and disrespectful, esp considering the lady just passed.

I don't think there's anything wrong with posting a note-- just be very respectful and sympathetic.
