It has reached puberty. :)
I think that they should be spayed or neutered because my dog developed many complications because we didn't neuter him. We absolutely had to do it when he was 8 years old because he couldn't pee anymore.

if the cat hasn't been spayed or neutered this could be one likely reasons, but if it has been fixed then it's a dominant behavior. All animals do this to prove they are the alpha species.

my cat does the same thing.....he probably needs a mate, or get him checked
