My grandma has Alzheimer's well and I know how it feels to have your loved ones not recognizing you anymore. What you should to is sit with her more often and talk to her alot. Remind her of yourself and never give up. My grandma never speaks much these days and what i do is kiss her forehead and just talk to her and she just mumbles.

If your grandma is still active mentally, spend time with her to keep her mind in a thinking state. Being in any kind of social setting will help her mentally, provided she is still capable of functioning well. As someone else mentioned, ask her of her past, listen to the stories, ask her questions about what she does remember. Look at photos, do jigsaw puzzles (if she can). My mom had been diagnosed 5 years ago. Although it sometimes seems like she is sliding fast, she does have good days. Our family has made it a point to never to correct her or chastise her when she repeats herself. She sometimes is aware of what is happening and cries. Make your grandma feel special everyday you see her!
Peace & Love to you both!

unfortunatly no there is not anything you can do to make her better.
I am a registered nurse, and work with people who have alzheimers all the time. Its a very sad and debillitating disease.
You just have to understand that she isnt going to remember things - sooner or later may not remember anyone - and try to spend as much time with her as you can,and do things with her.
She will need to be watched because people with alzheimers tend to wander and will go out open doors and get lost

It usually progresses, worsens, but it differs in each person at what rate it does. There are some medicines out that might help some people. There are probably websites you can check, WebMD is one I know of. Specifically, avoiding injury is something all family can do. Making sure there is nothing to trip over, they take their meds correctly, and protcting them as they worsen, much like people protect their small children.

Maybe you can make a photo album of her with her family. Just talk to her and keep showing her. She will probably not remember but it might make her happy for the moment. Good luck. I'm sorry about your grandma.

nicely, I had a doctor tell me that folk with Alzheimers do no longer think of touching directly to the tub, yet only the reality which you attempt to get their outfits off them. a number of them only take them off and take greater showers than are mandatory. i understand people who've it, and that i labored for medical doctors who labored with geriatric sufferers. that's a very hard concern. in line with threat you're able to desire to easily tell her she is going to bathe and make her do it, because of the fact otherwise, she won't in any respect bathe. in line with threat you ought to place decaffeinated tea in her whiskey bottle quite of on the instant whiskey.

The changes in the brain cannot be reversed, but they can be made to slow down by medication. Mamantine is one such medicine.
