I wish to buy a reliable an lasting family car, with good maintainence and good fuel consumption, and I have in mind either the new Camry or the new Audi A4, which of these cars is better for me, and which is better overall in all areas?

I would get the Audi-the Camry is an over rated car-way too many transmission & bulid quality issues, not to mention the worst rear safety ratings. And after all, German engineering is way superior to the Japs. Or you could support a domestic & buy a Milan or Montego, and get a great car.

Both really nice cars. Both good quality and reliability.

Problem is this, when that Audi is out of warranty and something goes wrong, I hope you have saved for a rainy day. The Toyota is not cheap, but much cheaper then the Audi to maintain and repair.

I have owned both and with my experience working on German cars and Japanese cars I would buy another Camry.

You are not serious, are you?
Toyota may not be the very best but Audi is simply a joke.
Why? Because Toyota will run reasonably well for 150-200,000 miles while Audi will spend most of it's miserable existence in the shop, and once it goes out of warranty, you'll have to get second mortgage to pay for repairs. I'm not even talking about resale value or initial price!

Get the Camry. They have the best maintenance cost and it will last at least 200,000 miles if you just change the oil every 3000 miles. Make sure you secure it well though. It is also the most stolen car in the US.

Statistically the Camry should be significantly more reliable.

CAMRY! It's cheaper and it'll last longer. Your resale value on a toyota is better, too!

Camry. Cheaper to buy and cheaper to fix.
