No - not at all do not do it. Animals need to feel the pain otherwise they can cause serious damage to the incision and jeopardize their health.

No, I do not believe that it is necessary. I've had cats spayed for the last 20 years. Offering pain medication only came about in the last 5 or 6 years that I know of.
I knew a girl that worked for a vet and they encourage them to push the medication and they make commission off of it.
They tell you how much pain your cat will be in if you don't buy this and try to make you feel terrible and buy it.
I just had two cats spayed this week. The vet didn't mention anything about extra pain medication. They were both playing that night. Didn't look like they were in pain to me.
I think they're kinda like kids. They fall down and scratch their knee and cry. Five minutes later they are off playing like nothing happened.

I have 3 cats, 2 males and a female. When I took all of them to get fixed, they all got pain medication prescribed to take as part of the operation after-care. Whether or not they need it I don't know, but animals do hurt just like we do after major surgery like that. When we hurt, we take something to alleviate it, so I don't see how it wouldn't be useful.

None of my cats ever needed a pain med. Maybe they had it with the anesthesia, but I never had any problem with my pets having pain. If they do have pain then that's a different situation, I would get it from the vet . DO NOT GIVE ASPIRIN.

Yes, it's necessary for your cat, she will have some pain when she wakes up from the anesthetic and will need fluids to keep from getting dehydrated. They will also want to keep her at least overnight to make sure she's recovering properly, it is major surgery after all. Just like when a woman has a hysterectomy. But she should be on her feet again in a day or two.
Good luck!

ask yourself this - as a woman, would you like to have a hysterectomy with no pain meds?

No, if your cat is uncomfortable when she gets home, just plug in a heating pad for her.
