i have been clean and sober 10 months. i abused alcohol for 6 years and interveneously used oxycontin for 4 years. the hardest part for me personally is changing behaviors - i have bipolar disorder and anger issues - i really have to keep my behaviors in check so that i dont slip back into active addiction...

I can't remember the hardest part, I've been clean for about 12- 14 years. It was mostly mental for me. I had to get away from the same surroundings and stop hanging with my user friends. I "slipped' 2-3 times at first, but after a short while, the thought of using made me sick, even in my dreams. Good Luck! I drink about 2 cups of coffee and eventually stopped smoking cigarettes also.

hardest part of the recovery for me was the first few days of not using the drug.
I have been clean now for over 7 years!!! Yeah for me!!!
I drink one, sometimes two, cups of coffee every day, but then drink Coke for the rest of the day (a 12-pack of Coke will last maybe two full days with me)

Its not the the drug, itself. Its aways thinking about it, having it pop into my head. Thinking about it. That's the hardest for me. I drink two to three pots of coffee a day.

I have moments when I don't think about it, but as soon as I have a moment of free time, bang its back. So I think psychologically its the hardest.

Thanks for asking.
