www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/cac/registry.htm. This website will take you to the federal website and then you go to your state and you can look up in your town and find out who is living next to you or in your neighborhood that is a sex offender. It is very important to know if you have sex offenders in your neighborhood. WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN

I have watched this alot on tv and I know what you mean. It is sick and so horrible that something like this goes on. But I do agree with one of the people above - they are everywhere so be carefull. One good place to go to is MSNBC.COM they have a great show called "to catch a predator" which is one of the most informative shows out right now. Otherwise call your local felony parole office and ask them for the websight for your state that the predators are required to register on. There is a websight for every state that can give you printouts and tell you where they are all located within so many miles of you. Good luck and be carefull you may not like how close you find out some of them are.

Go to your states website there should be a link for megan's law website. If not then do a search on Megan's Law. They will list all predators in a zip code. I think it's a good tool to use. I found one that lived up the road from us. I was able to tell my child to stay away and basically stay close to home and I was able to show him the guys picture.

My city has a list of sexual offenders on it's police website BUT they dont go into any detail at all. They will not necessarily say the person is a child predator either.

There's a great website at
www.familywatchdog.us

You can put in your address (as well as address of grandparents and family/friends your child may visit) and find out the nearby locations of registered sex offenders. You can also sign up to recieve e-mail updates if any offenders move to your neighborhood. I have my address, as well as my parents and my husband's parents addresses (as that's where my children get babysat when we go out) registered so I get an alert any time an offender moves into any of those areas. A great free service!

Every state and some cities have their own websites and they all handle it differently, so I can't just give you a direct link.

If you live in the US, start by going to http://www.yourstate.gov (put in the name of your state instead of yourstate) and start looking at the links, or the information tabs. If you poke around enough you should find what you're looking for.

That's how I did it, anyway -- for my state.

Go to this website. Keep in mind that these creeps don't always register when they're supposed to and they move around alot. It is, however, a good idea to know who they are, where they live, and what their crime was.
Also, if you look up your county sheriff dept. website, there should be another list of them there.
Also these sites aren't updated as often as they should be.
