My cat seems to like "grooming" me. She licks my arm hair, and even the hair on my head. She'll sneak up behind me while I'm sitting and start licking my head. Why does she do it and how do I get her to stop without using those stupid spray bottles.

She loves you, you're her "litter mate" or "parent" or as close to it as she has, and she's showing affection for you, plus it's a normal cat behavior. One of mine likes my hairspray, he'll come up on the back of the sofa when I'm watching TV in the evening and clean my hair. It's OK if I'm not going out anywhere!

If you don't like it, just pick her up, look her in the eyes and firmly say no. This will take some time but if you're patient, eventually she will stop. Or of course you could just pick her up and cuddle her in your arms or in your lap. She just wants attention and love from you.

Good luck!

Oddly enough she's claiming ownership of you. When she starts this petting her will probably get her stopped...or simply removing her and telling her no. You'll have to do it a number of times tho, cats don't retain as well as dogs do, but she'll soon get the picture.

She's just showing that she loves you and you are owned by her :), after all cats are very territorial.

It is a sign of love and affection. My cats do that too. If it annoys you just tell her to stop and she will learn after a while that you do not want her to do that. Most humans like it when their cats do that because they think that it is sweet and cute. So, I do not understand why you are having such a problem with it.

This is how most cats show affection and acceptance. My cat licks EVERYTHING though, and the vet says he may just like the texture. (He seems to favor a blanket my grandma made me.) If you don't like it, startle him/her by standing up, loudly saying "NO" and then walking away. It may four or five tries, but it will work.

Your cat is trying to show affection! In the cat world one way they show affection is by washing the other. If you want him to stop everytime that he licks you tell him no and move him over eventually he will realize not to do that

why stop ? she is showing she loves you. Cats do something a lot for like 3 months, then they get a new kick. It will pass for the most part, and enjoy the nice attention she is paying you!

Cats, expecially female cats, groom other cats. She considers you to be one of her litter and/or a member of her family.
You should feel honored. She trusts you.

Enjoy the feelings of love and trust instead of thinking of her grooming you as a negative.
