I believe you're talking about vcd and divx. If you want to buy a player I recommend you to buy that one which reads divx and dvd. the advantage of player which reads divx format is that you can burn your files as data, avi, mpg only, and your player will be able to play them as traditional formats.

I have discovered that if the player is CDV, it has NO Divx playback.
Samsung has a DVD V5600, without real dolby, with Show view, with Divx playback.. Check out this site:
