You are adding muscle which is a good thing but if you want to limit the amount of muscle you're adding, try decreasing the exercises that focus on weights and resistance (squats, lunges, etc.) and increasing cardio (treadmill, bike)...I have the same problem. As soon as i do any of these types of exercises, my thighs and butt adds muscle and gets bigger but they usually decrease when I stop them and just do cardio exercise.

I have the same problem. I have a bigger butt than most but it is all muscle. I have to be very careful and only do toning exercises for my lower half. I do lunges with out weights and I do 30 to 45 min of cardio.

You're building muscle in those areas and that is what is causing your pants to feel more tight.

Good news is that the more muscle your body has the better equipped it is to burn fat

Bad news is that you have to find an exercise to trim that fat off of those areas rather than build more muscle there at the moment.

My recommendation is the Lotte Berke Method

It's a workout dvd but there's no sweating, panting, etc try it out, it really helped with my thighs after I had our daughter.

Good Luck

while toning your tummy, you are gaining muscle in your legs and butt, therefore making your clothes tighter. you aren't doing anything wrong, thats just how exercising and muscles work.
