My Dog is ten years old. I have had her on a plane when she was much younger and she was tranqulized. She was fine after the flight. But this time shes a lot older and a lot more nervous, shes very afraid of loud noises and she does not like being enclosed in small places(such as a Kennel). This flight is 10 hours. I was going to give her acepromazine, but the Vet advise me that when a dog is under this drug, instead of seeing normal people coming at them they see big potatoe heads, and this drug can sometimes make them worse. He recommended trying her with gravol first. Im afraid to give her the tranqulizer because of her age. But im afraid to put her in a kennel(which she hates) and then a ten hour plane rise with 3 stops. Anyone have any recommendations? What are the chances of her taking a heartattack or something without the meds??Or being complety tramatized?Shes my baby and I want her to be safe and ok when we arrive!!

I would say with her age and with not liking a kennel and the stress of a 10 hour flight and that you had to tranquilize her when she was young I would listen to the vet and give her something to knock her out. I wouldn't trust this to "natural remedies"

Hopefully she will still be droggy when you arrive that way you will know it worked.

Get her microchiped!!1 Contact petfinders and see if they can help you find someone close to you that uses their chips. They are great with the rescues and shelters on pricing!!

I hope it goes well.

I would give her a tranquilizer that is reccomended by the vet.
And ask the vet how long it will last,so that she doesnt come out of it in the middle of the flight and go nuts.
You might also consider giving her the tranquilizer before she goes into the crate since she doesnt like it.
Because of her age and her anxiety I would highly reccomend this.Without the neds she would probably be very traumatised and may even suffer health problems from it.

a very small dogs like a bichon frise/chihuahua/pomeranian or the different small dogs because of the fact while you're on a crowded airplane/autos/subway no person needs a enormous st bernard (or golden or lab or any enormous dogs for that rely) in the way. Little canines additionally are alot greater handy to transport. have faith me in spite of the undeniable fact that, i'm no longer a splash dogs fan. for my area, the bigger the greater valuable!!!

I agree with the person who mentioned Rescue Remedy I have used it on my dog to calm her down and it helped her. You should ask your vet these questions.
