I always get in a battle with them for paying for Viagra (10-20 $/ pill) like Medicare was paying but not for other drugs, politicians felt even though age in 70's and 80's very important drug Viagra, shows what our gov officials spend a lot of time doing on our salary with our money

First call your insurance company and ask for a list of covered acid inhibitors then call and ask your doctor which of them he/she could prescribe instead.
I've had your same problem along with elevated liver enzymes and they initially prescribed Acifex but my insurance wouldn't cover it but did cover Nexium. Go figure. So, it seems those two can be used interchangeably and may be an option for you. Also, ask your doctor if they have any samples in the office they could provide until you get the insurance to cover another drug. Usually Gastroenterologists and some family doctors will have samples available. Good luck.

Different insurance companies make contracts with certain drug companies. There are many of these drugs ; Protonix, prevacid, prilosec, Nexium and Aciphex. Prilosec and Protonix might do wonders for you, while others can only take Nexium. You'll have to try the ones your insurance will cover and go with what works best!

Insurance companies contract for low prices on their meds. THey may contract with Protonix, but not Nexium.

The "better" drug really depends on the individual. Try one of the "approved" drugs. If it works, great. If not, then go back to the insurance company. "Your drug didn't work. I need Nexium."
