YES, CONTACT THE POLICE. Try and print the chat, take it in. IMHO I wouldn't allow your daughter to chat with anyone, unless you have personally met them. As your realizing, it's scary out there.

Good Luck

OMG. Take charge! You know this is absolutely distgusting, unethical, immoral that some pervert is doing that, then why are you waiting around and asking this question? If someone does that to my child, then that computer is gone in a heart beat and will be reported to authorities ASAP! If that adult know he is instant messaging a child, then he/she (more likely "he") should be in big trouble for soliciting a minor.

Let's gather all the pervies, from petty crimes like your type of situation to serious ones, i.e. child molestation...etc. They all should take the hard brunt of the worst offense and put them in jail for a very long time!

I have never heard of adult repeat offenders completely cured from lusting after children after so called rehabilitation from government assistance. There are so many perverted men and few women, who want to take advantage of children and steal their innocence away, not caring about the child's health or consequences. It is so sad to hear this.

So my message to you, please report this problem and take that computer away or put it in your bedroom! I hope that perverted adult does not have any personal info about you. If so then don't take this report lightly! The perv will be tracked down!

U can file a report with the police dept. But I would put the computer in a central room of your house where you spend the most time so u can keep and eye on your child better that is nothing to mess around with. Good Luck and God bless

Contact the authorities immediately. Don't tell the person that you know they have been doing this because the police might use your child's ID to lure him in.

I would also talk to your child about internet safety and make sure they are using the computer in public room. Monitor who they talk to and what they do online.

Call the police!!!!! Internet harrassment isn't any different than any other type of harrassment. They can locate this person and arrest them. Press charges before they victimize a child who's parent isn't paying attention to their internet usage!

This is against the law and you need to go to the police so they can investigate the person's profile. There is not much else that you can do though unless your child is actually harmed I am sorry to say.

You could try harassment or sexual harassment...but it depends on what state whether or not there is a law against it. Why does an 11 year old need a phone with text message capabilities?
