***I’m aiming this question at the conservative branches of Christianity but the character limit made wording the question difficult.***
Do you find it disturbing that during the 20th and 21st century conservative Christianity has contributed almost zero to the intellectual development of the human race?
Your scientific ideas concerning origins of the universe and life are taken seriously in any sector of science.
Christian universities are largely considered sub-nominal in academic pursuits. The outstanding seminaries do not even give much credence to your ideas.
While Barth, Whitehead, Bultmann and other theologians and philosophers were developing new lines of thinking in theology and epistemology your sector remained stagnant and silent. Conservatives did even bother to engage the new thought. You can’t even claim C.S. Lewis since his concept of Hell being locked from the inside is hardly inline with conservative thought.
Do you have anything to say about this?

U.S. News & World Report ranked Liberty University in the 4th tier of Southern Master's Universities. The magazine ranked its selectivity as "Less Selective." With tuition and annual fees of over $14,000, excluding room and board, it is the most expensive university in its class, costing over twice the average of other universities in its ranking.
This is an example of excellence?

True christians offer hope for a world that is dying spiritually. They offer people the opportunity to fill a void "a God sized hole" that can only be filled with personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They encourage and build people up and offer hope. They serve without expecting anything in return. Non-Christians simply cannot offer eternal hope to this world because they can not give what they have not received. Once they receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, however, they are a new creation and through God's help will be able to do the same.

I sure do have something to say about this:
I am not sure if your facts are accurate, but as a Christian, I do know that the seminaries and Bible Colleges teach contrary to Gods Word. Now you would think that they would teach exactly as the manuscripts would have them teach; and, you would think that they would have teachers who know the manuscripts inside out, and also have those who are efficient in all of the Bible languages utilized, right?? Wrong. They do not.
Almost any idiot can get a degree as a pastor these days,
and thats unbelievable.
That guy Jerry Falwell, he has a "Bible University", and teaches false doctrine in it.
I go to absolutely none of the Churches out there.
I study via the manuscripts and the languages on my own, for the past 35 years plus. Thats all I have to contribute on the subject.

Are you basing your preclusions solely upon the merits of Protestant scholarship? How about Catholic, Orthodox, Restorationist, Syrian, African, Asian, Mormon, etc? All the action is happening in the Third World; and they're all conservatives, and they see America as a missionary opportunity, not vice versa anymore. You're in an intellectual yacht facing a tsunami from far away.

God will use what this world calls 'foolish' to confound the wise. We don't care what you think. We know who created the Earth and everything in the Earth, and everything under the Earth. We know what His plans are, and we 'who are really his' will Occupy until the time for His return. You don't have a clue what takes place in 'our Kingdom' and the wisdom God has given us is much more beneficial for the people of 'this' world, than anything that 'science' thinks that they are discovering. Don't you know that you are being deceived. Science is Not discovering anything in this Earth that God didn't already know was there. You will see! The wisdom of God is worth much more than the knowledge of man. Man cannot even begin to understand of fathom what God has in store for us. You, my friend, should not even comment on things that you obviously know NOTHING about!

Hope you don't have anyone in your family with cancer, because Brigham Young University is researching some interesting things. Would you turn down a cure for cancer if it came from a Christian, by the way? Hope not.

I'll drop my parody for a minute.
It's very troubling. There is so much Christianity can truly do good for the world, if we as Christians would be more cognizant of doing things for people and for their spirit and not so worried about science and other subjects that we are out of our realm in.
I fully believe that you can have Evolution and GOD.
Back into angry right wing Christian mode now.

I think you are sadly mistaken. Have you been to Africa, Vietnam, or any other 3rd world country where people are starving and dying of diseases there is a cure for? Have you monitored the outreaches setup by the very people you insult that help the homeless, teach and protect children, care for the sick, serve the general public? Have you even checked out the newest movements toward spreading the good news to a needy world?
The fact is, you might not notice the church doing it because all the glory goes to God. The question is, are you disturbed by your lack of contribution to the intellectual developement of our society?

and must add this country was founded by God fearing men and the Constitution was written by them in that fashion .
so if you take GOD out of the Constitution and state then you might as well throw the whole thing in the trash
.As far as i know right know it is the longest lasting government ever developed .No other government has out lasted this 1.
By the grace of GOD .

Actually Christian universities put out some of the best of the best......take Liberty for one example, and at one time universities were all Christian.
And as for the rest of your theory, i'd have to disagree.

There are a few exceptions to your argument.
Baylor, even though it has taken ridiculous stances in the past, is hardly sub-standard.....
Notre Dame is hardly sub-standard......I DO believe that your argument about conservative Christianity not adding to intellectual progress is valid though.
