I've had my belly button pierced for 3 months and I think it's time to change it. When i went to change it, it wouldn't come undone. I tried the top and bottom ball and no matter what I do it won't come undone. What do I do???

First of all, I wouldn't be changing the jewelry that soon. Usually you should wait at least 6 months to ensure that problems don't occur by changing the jewelry too soon.

But if you are hell bent on doing it...couple things you can do...

Have your piercer help you, obviously this is easiest to do though you would have to thank and tip them for their help. It would also ensure that you don't ruin the jewelry by using pliers, which can scratch and harm the jewelry not to mention and slip of the pliers can harm you.

If you want to try yourself do the following:

Wash and pat dry the area to remove oil from the jewelry and skin. Get a pair of latex gloves and firmly hold the balls and twist. Make sure you are twisting the correct direction, and keep in mind one ball may be fixed in place and unable to move.

Use care when you are removing to jewelry because you can tear the inside of the piercing, called the fistula, and cause infections and soreness. If the area becomes red or hurts while you are trying to remove the balls, stop and try again the next day, or like I said...see your piercer. Good luck.

i would see a MD you might have and infection way under the skin/ or the skin has grown over the ring under the skin. I would leave it up to the doc to take care of it... I know people that have gotten very sick from a belly button ring. Good Luck!

Go to the shop that did it, you do not want to risk tearing it. If that is impossible, then the next best step is to GENTLY grab each ball with a small pair of pliers and rotate them in opposite directions, GENTLY. this should loosen one of them just enough, that you could unscrew one of them with your fingers.

The only other thing is that if the jewelry is a Neometal piece, then the ends are pressure balls, in which case, they pull out instead of threaded balls. You could also try that, but really your best bet is to go to the piercer. I have had clients come in with jewelry that was difficult to get out even for me, but I have had experience doing jewelry changes. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT CUT THE JEWELRY! THAT IS DANGEROUS, AND YOU COULD CAUSE YOURSELF SERIOUS HARM!!!!

Go back to where you got it done. I had the same problem and tried using pliers to hold it and unscrew it and i ended up cutting my skin it hurt really bad. so just dont panic and go back to the professionals they can get it off! Good luck

go back to the place that you had this done a tell them.
they should know what to do from there, or go to the er and ask them.
either way you should see someone because it sounds like the skin might have grown into the right or the ball.
good luck

Are you sure you are turning the balls in the proper direction???
Use something to get a better grip, like pliers or sticky part of a bandaid
