Do you feel that certain attempts to link your religion with aspects of science cheapen your beliefs in a way. I am referring to people like Kent Hovind who are trying to rewrite science to fit religious beliefs.
IE dinosaurs and humans coexisting, Grand Canyon formed by Noah's flood, etc.

Do you feel that these attempts to give spiritual things a tangible aspect take away from your respective beliefs rather than add to them?

Muslims' religion is not a true religion...but as Christian I quote few lines from "Science vs. Religion" written by David J. Turell., MD....."As a physician, the scientist in me had trouble believing in the existence of God. I was an agnostic.
How do you know God exists? Are you on the fence? Or, are you an atheist? I needed answers.
I didn't want to continue sitting on the fence. This book is an accumulation of my studies over the years to see if I could prove the existence of God. The scientist side of me insisted upon discovering if there were logical reasons for belief. In the book, you will learn that I have found multiple scientific findings that lead logically to accepting God.
Science Vs. Religion shows that I have discovered that the scientific findings of the past 150 years prove God beyond a reasonable doubt. Our universe is carefully designed to allow life and human development. The universe started with a "Big Bang," the beginning of time and space. Science has shown there is no 'before' before the Bang, and science does not know what caused it. Darwin's Theory of Evolution appears to do away with God, but there is enormous controversy among Darwin scientists as to how evolution works. Many other scientists also raise critical objections to the Theory. Darwinism is not proven!!
Scientists don't know how life got started, despite 50 years of laboratory research, because living matter, even single-celled forms, has been found to be extremely complex. Our entire society is divided over the Theory of Evolution. This controversy has entered our schools, religious teachings and politics. Unless you haven't noticed, faith in God is currently under attack in this country by secular scientists and secularists. This book answers them.
The book proposes, for those who have faith in God and for those who have chosen not to accept God on faith, if they look at modern scientific discoveries, they will find overwhelming evidence of the Hand of God. If you already accept God, the scientific review in this book will only act to strengthen that faith.
My book surveys over 100 other books. Those references provide plenty of material for you do your own searching in every direction possible, or to provide your children with answers to the partial truths they receive in school.
Make up your own mind about faith in God. Whatever suits you is fine with me. After 20 years of study, I am very satisfied with what I believe and finally, I believe in God and have faith in God."

Well, if it isn't the monkey. Where you been, monkey? Another attempt to discredit God? What a huge surprise! I do not link Christianity with any aspect of science. What seems impossible to men is possible with God, and in light of that I need no science to corroborate things of God. It is not my place to convert an unbeliever, but God's place. I could tell you all day long, and even if I convinced you, you could not go to Christ unless God were to draw you, so it is a losing proposition from the start. Speaking of science, did you see their startling discovery recently? Global warming MIGHT be caused by human activities! WOW! Do they really think so? That is so profound. Hey, BTW - here is a website that you can check out to see how God is crushing your precious atheism, even where it has reigned for over 75 years! Surf it well, check out all of the drop downs, etc. and you will see how atheism is being defeated every day! Go to school of christ international dot com, unless you cannot stand to see the truth. Have a great day, monkey. -Darryl

It stays in the Bible that God created the Heavens and the Earth and all occupants of the earth including the environment elements i.e. weather etc. Scientific theories may be true, i cannot confirm that but the Book of Job mentions a Behemoth (which means 'Giant Kingly Beast') which proves dinosaurs and man co existed. The Bible covers everything that scientists are still trying to find proof of.

Not every religious person tries to rewrite science to fit their conceptions. The late head of the Sufi Order International, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, read deeply about science and quoted scientific studies in his talks.

In talking about his father, Pir Zia Inayat Khan said:
“Spurning the temptation to succumb to the inertia of routinization, impelled by a string of discoveries—spiritual openings alternating with deep readings of science and scripture—Pir Vilayat blazed a trail toward the spirituality of the future.” snip

Pir Vilayat put forward an evolutionary spirituality, based on a recognition that our role as humans is to participate fully in the process by which the intelligence of the universe is awakening over time through us. In his view, the knowledge and insight generated from the expansion of consciousness have the potential to influence the course of evolution itself. And Pir Vilayat believed that while we are already the expression of an evolved and complex civilization, through our dynamic creativity and engagement humanity can ultimately rise to new and higher orders of existence. “The further you advance,” he said, “the further the horizon recedes, so the secret treasure keeps on moving further and further away. It's a very curious thing, but we're creating the secret. It's not there. It's like the future—we create it.”

Islam.Quran revealed nearly 1400 years ago describes correctly the Earth's shape,The moon having no light of its own,The Sun's motion, human embryo's development stages, water cycle and many other facts which could not have been known at the time by any human being. We also believed that the universe was created in 7 long periods rather then days(Christianity). Each period was billions of years long which agrees with science. We believe that the earth and moon were also split apart like science tells us today. Rather than being prejudiced like the poster earlier, one way or other if you check things up with open mind you will find its true.

No. Too many people think science and religion don't belong together. That couldn't be further from the truth. I think God gave us science. God created everything, and He wants us to grow and learn about His wonders. He gave us brains to think with, so we could do just that. We are only beginning to scratch the surface of what all is out there.

Spirituality IS tangible. God made that tree out there, and I can definitely go out and touch it.

The Bible is not a science text book. But as science develops more and more, the more we learn about the world, the more the Bible "fallacies" are proven true.
Grand Canyon formed by Noah's flood? No one knows yet.
Do you disparage all scientific evidence that the Bible is correct?

I can tell you this: There isn't any controversy between Gods Word and true science. None. The problem is on both sides;
some don't understand what the science is, and the other doesn't have any idea what the Word of God really says. So, let all the idiots do whatever they want to do - it will keep them busy with something.

there is nothing wrong with using science to prove the bible its just when science is too far from what scripture says, for instance in job chp40 their is mention of a behemoth that has a tail like a cedar tree, now that is evidence of a dinosaur and job is the oldest written book of the bible, but trying to say stuff outside of that and unaccurate scientific theories, its best to stay in faith with the scripture.

I am a Christian.

I think it does more damage in the name of Science then it does to spiritual realities. I mean to approach science with a bias is not science at all. Science is there to test and discover and learn from your explorations. You can have a proposed hypothesis but you cannot allow your hypothesis to control you experiement where you try to have the experiement fit your hypothesis. You have to be open to all possible outcomes.
