Just bought a 42 inch Champion Flat screen TV from my neibhor. I have Directv service, just regular service no HD, and I am having trouble getting my cable to come through (i get no picture or sound). The TV has 2 different componet options and a PC option, there is no video option. I am using just the colored cords (yellow, white, red) I have also tried an s-Video cord but neither seem to work. What am i doing wrong? and is there anything special I should buy to help my cable work.

I am confused. What do you mean by two different component options and no video option? What kind of component option do you have? Are you talking about component video ( three rca connector color coded green, blue, red?) How did your neighbor have the unit set up?

We had the same problem with ours. In ours we had to go into the main menu and there is an option to fine tune your reception signal and play with that. Also make sure the TV is on the correct channel for your satellite box.

Go to Menu - Channel - Fine Tune. We set ours to 31 We have a Samsung 42" Plasma. I don't know if all of them come with this or not, but I thought it was worth telling you about it just in case they were the same.
Good luck.

You mean you're hooking up component cables (red green and blue) with composite (yellow white red)cables?
You're suppsoed to use component cables and connect red to red, blue to blue, and green to green.

Component is a video-only connection so you will also need those red and white cables to allow the audio can go through.

the above suggestions are fine. I would also check out the maker's website and see if they have the operational manual available on line. This may help.
