I'm 20 and in college. I'm concerned about how I should walk in a floor length dress, how to greet people, which silverware to use, etc.

Thank you!

Don't wear a dress if you are uncomfortable in it! You should be able to walk, sit down, lean over to pick something up, and get in and out of a car without worrying at all about it.

As far as eating etiquette goes - eat slowly and just watch other people for their lead. It's easy if you watch to see what others are doing and emulate them.

Try not to talk about religion or politics, talk about the charity, art, movies, books, other charities, your school, and most importantly - ask others about themselves and really listen!!!

Give a good firm handshake and offer your name when introduced to someone. When they say their name, it's helpful to repeat it back to them to help you remember "It's so nice to finally meet you Mary" etc

Don't overdo the makeup. Don't overdo the cleavage. Wear fabulous shoes that won't kill you.

Bring breathmints.

but at most charity evets there is a real mix of people, from big rich donors to staff and friends of the organization, so you will fit in just fine. Don't worry about it and have fun!

At a black tie event, women do not usually go all out with the fancy party gown (that's white tie). Either a short or long dress, or even an elegant pantsuit, is suitable. A "little black dress" with dressy shoes is perfect. Bling is is perfect, too.

Walk with slow, medium steps - no bouncing. To greet, extend your right hand and do a half-shake. With silverware, start from the outside in toward the plate. Most important, stay moderately sober.
