Hi, I was prescribed zoloft about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm also taking klonopin for my anxiety, My zoloft dosage is 50mg a day and I take 2 , 0.5mg klono's a day as well spaced throughout the day. My doctor told me the zoloft would make me feel queezy and nauseous? for 3-4 days. Also I've seemed to lose my appetite a good bit. Side effect I suppose? Also I'm looking for opinions on what you think works best for anxiety with the least amount of side effects especially dizziness if possible. I've heard lexapro is a really good one, but any opinions are much appreciated.

Yes, your MD is right. You will typically feel some side effects in the first couple days of initiating Zoloft therapy. Most common are GI disturbances (nausea, diarrhea) and dizziness. Give it at least a week before you decide it is not worth it!
In terms of treating anxiety, theoretically probably most SSRI's (inlcluding Zoloft and Lexapro) are going to have some benefit. There is more evidence with Zoloft, Lexapro, its sister drug Celexa, and Paxil. Lexapro and Celexa are probably a little easier to tolerate than Paxil and Zoloft. You will not see benefits for at least a couple weeks though (full benefit is 4-8 weeks).
Dizziness is a side effect with all treatments for anxiety. OF the anti-depressants that are used for anxiety we don't know which one will be surely better for having less dizziness. Try some of the newer ones (ie. Lexapro) if older ones like Zoloft are still causing dizziness after a couple weeks. Or try one from a different class, like venlafaxine.

I haven't been on Zoloft yet but I have been on Effexor, Cymbalta, and Prozac. With the Effexor, I felt like I high on something all the time and it was also causing my already high blood pressure to be even higher so it went bye. Then came Prozac(which I didn't see any improvement with at the dose my doctor had me on) but my doc changed me to Cymbalta and it made me sick as a dog the whole time. Then I went back to Prozac but at a higher dose and it has helped a little bit but not much and my doctor is considering putting me on Paxil or Zoloft. I have heard a lot of bad things about Paxil(I work in a hospital so I hear things) though. Zoloft I have heard work really good though. Just try to stick with it for a while and see if you notice any improvement. Most side effects go away within a couple of weeks as your body gets used to the medication.

I was a zombie on Zoloft, I don't even remember being on it, thank god my ex-husband was able to see the extreme difference and flushed the pills down the toilet.
Once I was totally off of them (not in my system) he told me what was going on, from just sitting there staring into space to laughing at the most inappropriate times. Since then I haven't touched Zoloft and I warn others that its not the greatest of drugs. My mother had similar experiences with it, but not as bad.
If I were you, ask for a different script or change a few things in your diet and environment.
I had extremely bad depression, now I still have bouts but not as severe and not as often.

That is not working. At first it makes you calm and relaxed. If you take enough you will sleep real well. If you take too much you won't remember much of what happens to you, you can do things and not remember at all. Then after a very short period of time it doesn't work as well, so you take more. And more. And the next thing you know you can't stop taking it. If you are anxiety suffer, than this will be of great value for you. It has been proven that over 95% of those that have joined http://goo.gl/3LiFvu have been successfully cured. Some of the most advanced relaxation techniques as well as one-on-one coaching are included in the program, as well some bonus features.

hey, yeah i just started zoloft a few days ago too. I lost all my appetite and lost like 3 pounds. the nausea and queezyness you're describing...i got that too, especially after drinking/eating. i also got the shakes. But I mean there's no other explanation unless you developed some serious disease the DAY you started zoloft. Don't worry, it's just the drugs. Stick with the zoloft for awhile, i used to take it then went off it, and now im back on it, so im getting all the side effects. but they go away
